Are you planning to travel this summer? Here are some good hygiene tips for your travel adventures.
Dentistry for life uses intraoral camera technology. Being able to see exactly what our team sees is one of the most beneficial components of Carestream intraoral cameras. Early diagnosis of tooth decay, gum disease, or other possible damage can be easily seen using this handheld, camera-tipped device. Taking photos of a person’s smile and displaying the images in real-time on a nearby screen allows us to show where the problem exists and why treatment is necessary.
Here is a little dental hygiene tip to start your Friday!
Treat your gums with the care they deserve by letting our hygienists help! When looking at your smile, your teeth might be the first things you see, but the tissues that surround them deserve an equal amount of care. Gum disease is a common problem that nearly half of Americans suffer from. Often causing symptoms that are overlooked or disregarded, many individuals do not realize they have it until they see a dentist. Our dental team strives to minimize these issues before they become a problem; however, should bacteria attack these tissues and cause swollen, bleeding gums, we offer gum disease treatment to combat gum disease and the damage it causes.
Fun Fact Friday! Here is a little dental trivia to kick start your weekend!

What are the best oral hygiene products for home use? This is a question we get all the time. At Dentistry for Life, we are pleased to use the finest oral hygiene products and will always offer suggestions and tips if you are looking for the right solution to keep your teeth and gums healthier in between appointments. Not only do we use Colgate and Listerine, but we also sell Fluoridex and Prevident to help improve our patients' oral health.
In addition to those products, we keep Sonicare power brushes and Water-piks in stock for our patients to purchase. Many patients find this to be convenient and economical, as we pass along any specials or rebates that are offered through these companies.
Did you know that oral cancer takes the life of one individual every hour in the United States?
April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, an annual observation that underscores the fact that early detection of oral cancer can decrease morbidity and increase long-term survival. Early detection is key, so if it's been a while since you've had a dental exam, call to schedule today!
Dentistry for Life does tooth colored fillings! In the past, traditional amalgam was the only way to fill a cavity. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. With tooth-colored fillings, we can make it easy to help patients keep more of their natural tooth structure while also ensuring dental work blends in seamlessly. The tooth-colored composite resin easily fills in the area where the decay was removed, and the process takes only one visit to complete.
Don't forget to book your Spring hygiene visit with us! Our schedule is filling quickly. Call us today!
It’s Dental Assistant Appreciation Week!! We celebrated our assistants today with Lunch from Chick-Fil-A and cupcakes from Lanacster Cupcake. Without them, our practice could not run as well as it does.

Certain risk factors increase the risk of developing gum disease. Gum disease is normally caused by poor oral hygiene. However, there are other factors that might play a role as well.
Since it’s Gum Disease Awareness Month, let’s continue educating about it. Check out the warning signs for gum disease below. If you experience one or more of these, schedule an appointment with us to have it evaluated so we can keep you on track to good gum health. If a permanent tooth replacement option is what you would prefer, you cannot go wrong in choosing dental implants. Known for their versatility and immense benefits, these titanium posts are implanted into the jawbone and deliver maximum support to one or more teeth. Fusing with the bone, these posts mimic the natural tooth structure from root to crown – a factor that cannot be attained by any other tooth replacement solution. And dental implants are known to last 30 years or more, making them increasingly popular among individuals suffering from tooth loss. Dr. Herres places dental implants right here in our office, no referrals needed.

Our Story
The dentistry our staff practices is personalized – taking individual needs and goals into consideration. It is preemptive – addressing problems thoroughly at the very beginning instead of offering less complete solutions that will eventually lead to larger problems. And it is comprehensive – focusing not only on oral health but also on important life-enhancing issues such as a patient's bite, facial structure, and the effects of oral disease on the cardiovascular system. We sincerely believe your experience at Dentistry for Life will change your life.
