The Flocking Parrot Project
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit parrot sanctuary in Bucks County (minutes from Philadelphia). We do not buy birds or sell birds.
We are currently trying to get funding for a small facility for the birds. Please look at our website or reach out for more info.
My name is Voël, sometimes the damn bird. I am now 8 years old. This is my 6th home in my 8 years. I remember my first 2 years of life as if it were yesterday because it's all that keeps me clinging to life, hoping my Mom will come for me one day. Mom and I were inseparable. We played together, laughed together, and she made the tastiest food for me. I went "shopping" with her, picking out my own fruits and vegetables for the week. Mom would spoil me with delicious treats, and every Saturday was our cheat day when we enjoyed cheese curls together. Three at a time. I could roam freely in the house, and at the end of each month, Mom would come home with a new toy for me. Mom said, "Every prince deserves a little gift when they're as sweet as you."
One day, Mom didn't come home. I heard she was sick, and I had to stay with her friend for a week. That week turned into a year. A year spent waiting for Mom. She never came for me. Mom was gone. I was forgotten in a corner. I had to learn to eat black seeds that made me very sick. The brown beans smelled musty, but I had to eat or starve.
So I began to wander. Everyone always wanted to know, "Can he talk?" or "Does he bite?" Sometimes I had to entertain visitors with my tricks, and then everyone would say, "Oh, we want a parrot too!" Other times, I was screamed at to shut up, and shoes were thrown at me.
My once palace-like cage was traded for a tiny, filthy cage. I was "sentenced to life imprisonment for a crime I didn't commit." I chewed on my sticks out of boredom and was scolded for it. A piece of steel was shoved into my cage, scraping blisters on my feet. I was forgotten outside, in heat and cold. Days without water, and when I did get water, it was muddy. I no longer knew what a clean cage was, suffocating in my own waste.
Today I am in my 8th home. I'm beaten with sticks through the bars. I'm taunted. I'm tired, and I grabbed the child and bit him. The mother slapped me so hard on the head it felt like my eyes would pop out.
I feel sick. I struggle to breathe. The man's smoke burns my chest. I don't want to live anymore. I'm sentenced to a punishment I'm innocent of. All I wanted was your love. You measured love by costs and work. I don't really want to bite you, but I can't trust a human hand anymore. I am terrified and scared.
I pluck my feathers because I am sick. I am dying... I pray to God and ask Him please God, come take me... I can't fight anymore. I don't have the strength. Slowly, I am sentenced to a torturous death...

My 8 yr old son likes to invent things so he made me a device to fill 3 bird water bowls at the same time. Such a time saver. Thanks Luke!
Hello!!! I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I am currently in the process of selling my home and looking for a larger home with more room for my family and the birds. It is a very stressful time for my family and the birds so I hope our house sells quickly so we don’t have people always coming and going looking at the house. I had to box up most of the bird stuff so my house doesn’t look cluttered with parrot supplies so I haven’t been able to make any toys due to lack of supplies and time. If you would like to help make this transition a little easier for the birds and you would like to buy them a new toy or snack to keep them busy during this hectic time that would be amazing! Please visit our Amazon gift registry. Thank you for reading.

Kids helped me make some toys for the rescue parrots. We are running low on toy parts, so they don’t look great but the birds don’t care.

Vet appointment went well. Baby most likely has a bacterial infection like I thought. Sent a gram stain out. He was started on antibiotics once daily (this should be fun to give orally.) Thank you to those who donated to help with their veterinary bills. ❤️💕🦜

Hello! I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while. I was getting the kids back to school and I took in a 4 week old kitten that was bitten in the head by a dog. They weren’t sure if she had any brain damage but I wanted to give her a chance. She had a few bumps in the road but I’m happy to say she is walking, playing, cuddling like any other kitten. The kids named her Luna. ❤️

I couldn’t get him to say “what does a duck say?” But he did say…. “What’s a doggie say?” “Wanna go for a motorcycle ride?” Buddy is the best!!!
Added a plastic tray to my parrot play stand. Put in some paper bedding in it, threw almonds around the tray, put in a bowl of food that they can share and added some toys to make a playground. Hope they like it. 😀 lol

Hello! I just wanted to post a quick update on Maverick. Her Bornavirus test came back positive unfortunately. We had some ups and downs with her while we were waiting for the bloodwork to come back. A couple of times she wouldn’t eat for a whole day and I had to bring her water bowl to her so she would drink. I think her balance was really off and that’s why she didn’t drink on her own but I helped her through this and she is doing better since starting the Celebrex. She has to get that medication twice a day and she’s really not the best for taking her meds. She fights me because she is really scared but after I give her the meds I wait a few minutes for her to calm down and then I give her lots of love. Luckily for me she trusts me even though I have to restrain her. She is a very loving girl. 😍 Her future looks good and I just love having her here at the rescue.
If you can please consider donating to Maverick to help with the cost of her veterinary care. Thank you for reading.
