It's day two of Lansing Lit! There's still time to pick up your event guide and passport from any participating location!

It's time to get LIT(erary) with your Greater Lansing bookstores! Celebrate the Lansing area's thriving literary scene with Lansing Lit this Fri 9/20 thru Sun 9/22. Your local indies are hosting a city-wide book crawl, author events, and so much more!

The Book Crawl is even bigger this time around! It runs from 11am Friday through 2pm Sunday. Spend at least $1 at each participating store (Socialight Society, Deadtime Stories, The Robin Books, Wayfaring Booksellers, A Novel Concept, Summit Comics and Games, Everybody Reads, Hooked, Curious Book Shop, and Schuler Books) to get a stamp on your Book Crawl passport. Redeem your completed passport at Wayfaring Booksellers or Hooked to get a limited edition Lansing Lit tote bag (while supplies last).

Here's what we've got going on at Deadtime Stories:

Fri 9/20: Deadtime at Bedtime! Come shop for books by candlelight! We will be open from 8-10pm for a little late-night, in-the-dark shopping! Save 20% on any book with the word "dark" in the title, and grab a lil' bedtime snack!

Sat 9/21: Easter Egg Hunt! The term "easter egg" has come to mean something different over the years, and many a good book is chock full of them. Come hunt for golden easter eggs full of prizes and discounts! (Egg must be opened at checkout, don't peek!)

Sun 9/22: Banned Book Search! Identifiable by the red flags sticking out of their pages, you might be surprised by some of the titles that have been banned. Find one and save 25%! (Limit one discounted book per customer.)

HUGE THANKS to everyone who came out for our nighttime shopping event last night! We are open today (Sat) 11-6 and tomorrow 11-4. While the chaos of this week caused us to miss our big book ordering deadline, we did get a few new titles in! I just finished So Thirsty, it was a good little vampire tale.

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH! As has become tradition, we've got special Friday the 13th hours. We will be open from 3-6pm for regular shopping, and then 7-10pm for a Deadtime at Bedtime party! CLOSED TODAY, Wednesday 9/11/24.

Well. This week is off to a rough start. This should be a post telling you what new books we got in stock this week, that our weekday hours are changing back now that summer's over, and that we're having a surprise Friday the 13th late night shopping event this Friday.

Instead, I'm here to share that we will be closed today, as I am entirely out of commission following a pretty painful injury yesterday. I tried just walking it off (literally), but my worsened condition today has made it clear that medical intervention is gonna be required for this one. I'll be sure to update you all on what the rest of this week looks like once I know more.

For now, don't worry, I'm in good hands.

We are still working on putting things back together after the festival, while also preparing for tomorrow's Troll Treasure Hunt, but the Book Fairy did swing by with some new titles!

SPIDER SUNDAY! While spiders, in general, are some of the easiest pets to care for, these ones here are SUPER low maintenance.

DID YOU KNOW that A Festival of Oddities is next weekend?! As the showrunners, this is an "all hands on deck" situation for us. As such, we will be CLOSED Labor Day weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. If you were planning a visit for next weekend, we highly encourage you to come to the festival instead. You won't regret it! Currently, our plan is to be open regular hours Wednesday through Friday, but that may change based on festival needs. We will be sure to update any schedule changes here ASAP. See you at The FOO!
