ANNIVERSARY FACT #22 - The December 1970 issue of the KEY announced the Victory Celebration Homecoming Day on January 15, 1971 to celebrate the last payment made to pay off the Dodge Mansion. The Dodge Mansion was bought for $100,000.
Alumni and friends are invited to attend the 2024 Convocation Service marking the official start to our 2024-25 college year. The service begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Doty Center and everyone is invited to join us for a Presidential Reception following the service in Ralph Woodard Administration Building lobby.
If you can't attend, please pray for our student body as they start or continue their educational journey. Pray for our Administration, Faculty, and Staff as they prepare to receive these students and invest into their lives. God continues to use GLCC to prepare the next generation of Christian leaders!
ANNIVERSARY FACT #21 - By 1975 a new program came into being known as the "Intensified Preaching Program" (IPP) and was offered to those 30 years of age or older to receive accelerated training to preach in 18 months. Within the next five years, this was changed to the APT (Accelerated Preacher Training) degree. By 1986 there were seven APT graduates.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #20 - James and Harriette Myers received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1981. Jim Myers served as Vice President - Development for many years.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #19 - Fred Huxtable sold land to Great Lakes in the early 70's that was previously his turkey farm. This picture is advertising Oldsmobile on the turkey farm where the current Administration building is located.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #18 - Three Christian Service Teams were sent out to represent Great Lakes in 1969. GLBC New Campus Crusaders, The Lord's Lights, and The Waymakers.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #17 - In December 1966 John Hasty was introduced as the 4th President of GLBC.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #16 - Saturday morning, April 23, 1966, the 3rd President, Louis Detro, was killed in a car accident while traveling to a speaking engagement with the Anchormen Male Quartet. "The President's Pen" was written by President Detro a few days before he was killed.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #15 - The Dodge Mansion was selected by the trustees after looking at more than two dozen sites in 10 different Michigan cities. This five acre site included the 14-room historic Dodge Mansion built in 1850, an 18-room apartment house, and a 7-room residence. An additional adjacent two acres were optioned to the College. The purchase price was $100,000.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #14 - In the spring of 1965, a new chapel-classroom building was available. It was called the "King Chapel" since the final gift enabling its construction was from the estate of Mrs. Clayton (Kate) King of the Memorial Church of Christ in Livonia, MI. It was dedicated as a part of the Alumni Rally held on campus December 7, 1965.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #13 - The campus moved from Vestaburg, MI to Lansing occupying The Dodge Mansion in 1958.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #12 - The Rosema Farm house became the second campus following the Woodard Log Cabin between 1951-1957.
ANNIVERSARY FACT #11 - Between 1949-1958, there were 17 new church plantings. Twelve of these were begun by GLBC related people.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #9 - 2nd President, Charles Matthews, started service at the College in 1957.
Evelyn Hasty, President John Hasty's wife, died on July 24, 2024 at the age of 86. John was the 4th President of Great Lakes and Evelyn (Ginger) used her "talents of cooking, decorating, entertaining, and joyfully making everyone feel welcome", during their tenure at GLBC. We pray together for the very best for the Hasty family.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #8 -The Victory Four Plus One quartet started traveling in 1957 to participate in evangelistic services, youth rallies, men's meetings, and other special days. The quartet consisted of Mark Huntley, Lawrence Downs, Robert McGlashen, Edgar Erskin, Garth Rigg.

ANNIVERSARY FACT #6 - The first graduates in 1952 were Newton Huffine, William Lower, Eugene Thorpe.
