Maner’s municipality consulting team, led by Senior Governmental Consultant Rod Taylor, recently hosted two successful focus groups in Lansing and Traverse City. These events brought together community leaders and local government representatives to address key issues affecting municipalities. 🏛️

Participants engaged in dynamic discussions and collaborative round-table sessions, exchanging ideas and receiving valuable feedback to drive community development.

Monroe County Opportunity Program Client Spotlight🌟

Monroe County Opportunity Program (MCOP) is a community-action nonprofit created in 1965 as part of then-President Lyndon B. Johnson's "War on Poverty".

MCOP provides several important programs, including:

🔹Bridges Out of Poverty: A classroom program that teaches social skills, promotes self-sufficiency, and guides community members to help themselves and their families out of poverty.
🔹Senior Resource Advocacy: MCOP provides several senior-related services, from food programs, home care, and home injury control to tax preparation services, specialized transportation, and more!
🔹Food Programs: Through the Lord's Harvest Pantry, MCOP works with dozens of churches and organizations to ensure the people of Monroe County do not go hungry.

We are deeply grateful for the impactful work MCOP is doing in the community and we're honored to have them as a client!

Amber provides tax support to individuals, nonprofits, and for-profit businesses and is an active member of Maner's nonprofit team. She cares deeply about her colleagues and their well-being and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Amber enjoys new projects that challenge her and always does what's best for the firm.

We had college-themed games and staff dusted off their college gear. Two tournaments were held: water pong and ladder ball, along with other popular college lawn games like mini-pickleball, which is a favorite at Maner!

Huge congratulations to Keith Pfeifle, CPA, Principal, who is celebrating 20 years at Maner, and Kyle Schafer, CPA, Principal, who is celebrating 15 years!

Keith is an Audit principal and leads the firm’s Affordable Housing niche. His extensive industry knowledge, engaging personality, and commitment to improving the team's expertise in this highly technical field have significantly expanded Maner's affordable housing client base.

Kyle serves as a principal in the Audit department, where he specializes in providing assurance and attestation services for nonprofit organizations. His drive and love for learning motivate him to continuously expand his knowledge and expertise in the field. As an analytic thinker, Kyle loves complex problems and developing solutions. His dedication to his clients and work have been an invaluable asset to our team.

We have a lot of new interns that joined the Audit team and we wanted to introduce each of them today!

Peckham Inc. Client Spotlight🌟

Peckham believes in supporting the community and bringing people together. One way it does this is through the Art From the Heart program.

This program provides a supportive space for artists to come together in Peckham's studio to pursue their creativity. Members will support artists by building confidence, joy, and connection with others.

Art From the Heart advocates for those with disabilities and increases awareness in the community of their creative potential. The program also allows the artists to exhibit and sell their artwork to those in the community. We have several Art from the Heart pieces in our Lansing office.

Congratulations to Steve Piesko, CPA, Principal, who is celebrating 25 years at Maner! Steve leads the firm’s education team and serves as our treasurer, ensuring the firm provides exceptional client service while meeting our revenue goals.

Also a special congrats go out to a pair of our newest principals, Jessica Fleet, CPA, CHFP, Principal, and Clayton Stiffler, CPA, CCIFP, Principal, on their 10-year anniversaries!

Jessica and Clayton both work in the firm's Accounting and Outsourced Solutions department. In addition to her many work responsibilities supporting Maner's small and midsize business clients, Jess is active in the community, and serves as treasurer of ATHENA WIN and the Greater Lansing McLaren Foundation. Clayton leads the firm's construction team and (fun fact!) is one of less than 2,000 professionals nationwide to receive the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional designation.
