Not everyday do we see such a display of courage, quick thinking, and bravery that Scott Vanluven showed when he sprang into action to help rescue a 7-year old girl from an abduction. I know I speak on behalf of the whole Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica, and Shelby Twp. communities when I extend our biggest thank you to Scott!

On National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate all older Americans who illuminate our lives and communities. Michigan is phasing out taxes on retirement income, helping seniors on a fixed income. This is a small step with a big impact, ensuring they can enjoy their golden years with financial peace of mind.

Earlier this week, Governor Whitmer signed my Highway Naming Bill, House Bill 5151, making it a public act. This act honors the life of Sterling Heights Office Leroy Imus who lost his life during a hit-and-run on the Van D**e bypass. By renaming a portion of M-53 to "Officer Leroy Imus Memorial Highway", it stands as a tribute to his dedication in the service.

July is Parks and Recreation Month! Parks and Recreation agencies are vital for protecting our open spaces and promoting health and wellness in our community. I’m looking forward to continuing to use Michigan’s amazing parks this summer!

This year's budget takes our public safety to new heights. I am proud to have brought back $75 million to continue to help our local communities! We're funding mental health, gun violence prevention, and training more police officers to keep our hometowns safe.

I am truly thankful to have received the Legislator of the Year award from the Police Officers Association of Michigan. It’s truly humbling to be acknowledged by those who dedicate their life to keeping our community safe. I look forward to continuing to support our local and state law enforcement agencies.

It was an honor to help deliver an AED to Stevenson High School last week. Our bills which equip schools with AEDs and proper CPR training will not only help staff confidently address medical emergencies but will also save lives!

Grateful to have joined the Asphalt Pavement Association of Michigan today to see the promise of fixing our roads in action here in District 58.

Huge turnout for the first Music in the Park!

On the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we honor the brave heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Their courage and sacrifice paved the way for the freedoms we have today.

I assure you that I am "delivering results " for Warren, Utica and Shelby Twp also! Proud and honored to represent all 4 in Lansing!

We must protect voters from misinformation and with newer technology, it is becoming easier to produce and harder to recognize. The bills passed by the legislature will require clear disclosure in an advertisement if it is generated using AI and provide stiff penalties for those who violate it. The Governor signed this package of bills earlier today, adding Michigan to the four other states with these protections.

Michigan to join state-level effort to regulate AI political ads as federal legislation is pending Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to sign legislation in the coming days aimed at curbing deceptive uses of artificial intelligence and manipulated media.

Congratulations to Macomb Community College's President, James Sawyer, for receiving the Mayor Richard J. Notte Civic Service Leadership Award. I was happy to join and present a tribute from the Macomb legislative delegation recognizing President Sawyer's years of dedication to education.

This Thanksgiving, I am especially thankful for the trust you place in me to serve our community. Happy Thanksgiving!

My legislation, House Bill 4605, will provide local governments with the resources they need to invest dollars in the most effective way for their community. As crime rates rise, local police departments need this support now more than ever.

The last few weeks of session included the passing of landmark legislation that continues to put Michiganders first. I will continue to highlight some of this legislation over the coming weeks but I think the repeal of Michigan's drug immunity law is a great place to start. Michigan was the only state in the nation that gave blanket immunity to drug manufacturers and sellers in cases of prescription medication causing harm. I proudly voted yes on this repeal to ensure citizens have recourse when they are harmed by prescription medications.

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served! Started off the day at the Sterling Heights Ceremony and then joined the City of Utica for their dedication of the Purple Heart Trail. Thank you Veterans!
