Hello Dance Expressions family-Happy September we hope everyone had a safe and restful summer we certainly had a productive one-we have been working hard making some improvements in the studio and have already started planning for Recital 2024-and let us say you will be seeing a lot of pink. We are also taking this time to remind everyone that classes will resume this week so please mark your calendar and contact us for schedule information. We look forward to seeing you and sharing all our plans for the upcoming school year. Stay safe get some rest and be ready to dance-we have some awesome choreographies planned for this year's show.
Hey Everyone, we are still burning the midnight oil here at Dance Expressions Performing Arts Studio but we wanted to take a few minutes to let you all know that It is past midnight -you know what that means -happy recital day-get some rest and see you all in the morning for rehearsal. We are so excited to show parents and all our families what all the hard work and countless practice hours have lead to- and we can assure you it's going to be totally rad!!!!

Epic Early Birthday Weekend-Thank you, Dance Family-I Love You All!!!This Saturday I felt like the luckiest most blessed woman in the world-I was treated to a surprise early birthday celebration by my dance daughters and their children ( Gutierrez Garcia Lily, Nohely Garcia, Lizzie Lizette Mendive-Gonzalez, Iliana Medina Chandarlis, Aily, Aria, Livvy, Galiz, Andrely, Jassel, Jaylee, Orion, and Apollo) and dance son (Adolfo Gutierrez "The Ultimate Dance Dad"-who cooked the most delicious sea food pasta). I was showered with love, affection, thanks, well wishes, and birthday blessings. My dance family cooked the most amazing sea food pasta with mushrooms, a super tasty salad, garlic bread, wine, sweet green tea, pizzas, chocolate cake, and an epic assortment of delicious cupcakes. We watched scary stories on youtube, shared memories, and I got to show off all my Halloween decorations. This was wonderful and overwhelming-I loved it-I love my dance family more than words can say-you inspire me to keep pushing forward and to keep my creative juices flowing. I thank you all so much for everything, the love, the party, the wonderful memories, the blessings you all bring to my life, and all the gifts you give me everyday. THANK YOU!! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I look forward to everyday knowing that I have you all standing besides me.

We are back dance family-today is the first day of the Fall 2022 semester and we can't wait to see everyone-we have so many fun ideas for the upcoming dance year and are planning many exciting activities for our wonderful dancers.

Dance Expressions Performing Arts Studio will be welcoming back our dancers on September 8th for the new Fall 2022 Semester please make sure to call our studio at (956) 724-5330 for schedule and registration information -we will be available from Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 8:00 pm. if you would like to come fill out registration documents and pay fees please make sure to schedule your visit with Ms. Cheryl Kirkpatrick ahead of time (ALL Visits Must Be Previously Scheduled-Please Do NOT show up unannounced) as we are not always at the studio during the week. We have missed everyone and can't wait to start working on new choreographies and routines-we also have some exciting plans for the new dance year. We are looking forward to seeing our dance family and we hope everyone is as excited as we are to start a new journey with together this year.

Our Story
Dance Expressions Performing Arts Studio was established in 1978 by Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick and her daughter Ms. Cheryl Kirkpatrick a former professional dancer in order to provide the community with high quality pre-professional dance and performing arts education at an affordable price. Ms. Cheryl Kirkpatrick holds a B.A. Degree and is a state-certified dance instructor. She was trained in numerous genres of dance since the age of two and as a young adult continued her studies by attending classes and workshops with internationally known dance masters- including Austin on Tap under the direction of Ms. Debbie Bray (a national touring tap company), flamenco masters Jose Greco, Nana Lorca, director of Ballet Nacional de Espana, Pilar Lopez of Mexico City and Maria Benitez who established the Maria Benitez Institute for Spanish Arts in Santa Fe. Ms. Kirkpatrick served as the Dean of Dance at the VMT School of Communications and Fine Arts for 17 years before retiring to dedicate her talents exclusively to Dance Expressions.Our studio offers beginner through pre-professional classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and world dance. Our students classical ballet training consists of technique from the Vaganova Method and The French School of classical dance. Our studio encourages young dancers to explore an assortment of dance styles in order to find what style works best for them, as well as to learn about different cultures and increase their knowledge in multiple fields of dance which can lead to more successful auditions at a professional level. Students from Dance Expressions have been accepted into programs at top universities and professional schools including The University of Texas Dance Program, Texas Christian University, Texas Woman’s University, Houston Ballet Academy, The Joffrey Ballet School, The Kirov Academy, The American Dance and Musical Theatre in New York City and Ballet Intensive Moscow. Many of our students have attended nationally recognized dance competitions garnering outstanding gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as scholarships and awards. Our teachers are all former dancers and certified to teach dance at multiple levels including advanced and professional. They maintain their dance education at our studio and attend national dance conventions and competitions in order to offer our dancers the latest choreographies and dance techniques as well as address our dancers’ needs for an up to date competitive dance education. Our studio also offers modeling classes and photoshoots with Neon Pearl Fashion and Photography, at no additional cost to parents-including a free complementary headshot (available in digital form) for audition purposes. Our recitals are praised by parents and dance aficionados for their refinement and elegance as well as their elaborate production level including our use of lighting, projections, props, and costumes. Dance Expressions Performing Arts studio is under the direction of Ms. Cheryl Kirkpatrick and through her generosity has helped spread the love of the performing arts throughout Laredo with many former students dancing professionally or operating dance studios of their own.
