Congratulation to LISD Student of the Month Jonathan Torres of Memorial Middle School.
Memorial Middle School eighth grader Jonathan Torres is an exceptional student who is both a leader and a role model to his peers.
He has maintained excellent attendance and grades. His favorite part of the school day is when he attends his math class and gets to play soccer with his classmates.
Jonathan additionally devotes a lot of time to extracurricular activities as he participates in the Mighty Eagle Soccer team. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his cousins practicing and perfecting his soccer skills.
Jonathan hopes to get a scholarship and play soccer for Texas A&M International University while he works on getting his bachelor's degree.

The Laredo Independent School District held a day of remembrance to honor all fallen war heroes, Prisoners of War (POW), and Missing in Action (MIA). Nixon High School JROTC Cadets participated in a Roll Call of all fallen American Heroes, POW, and MIA, followed by the playing of patriotic music by the Memorial Middle School Band and โTAPSโ by retired Trevino Magnet School Instructor Roberto โBobbyโ Lopez. The Combine Law Enforcement Honor Guard conducted a 21 Gun Salute. LISD Board Vice-President Rudy Morales, LISD Board Parliamentarian Goyo Lopez, and LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios placed a wreath in memory of the fallen soldiers.

Congratulations to LISD April Student of the Month Daniel Garibay of Memorial Middle School.Garibay is an 8th grade student-athlete at Memorial Middle School. He is both a leader and role model to his peers.
Daniel is on the AB honor roll, has excellent attendance, and is enrolled in advanced classes. He likes coming to school so he can soak up as much knowledge that will benefit him in the future. His favorite part of the school day is when he gets to play soccer with his classmates and attending his second period Math class.
Daniel devotes his time to his extracurricular activities as he is a vital member of the Mighty Eagle Soccer team. After school he can be found playing soccer at home with his friends or with Ciriaco a local soccer team.
Daniel will be attending Nixon High School and the BIPS Early College Academy. He is undecided on what college he will attend. Daniel hopes to become a professional soccer player or have a career in the business filed.
Daniel is the son of Elizabeth Ortega. He attended Bruni Elementary School.
