ALL ARTWORK IS COPYRIGHTED BY THE ARTIST. Don't steal! We're all trying to make a living here.
These are the works I created for the Cactus Gallery Loteria 2024 exhibit! Descriptions are in the previous posting.
They are available exclusively through the Cactus Gallery. Please reach out to them if you are interested in any of these pieces or would like to view the whole exhibit. Trust me, it's wonderful!
It's time for the Cactus Gallery's annual Loteria exhibit!
This is one of my favorite exhibits because the artists are given a free hand at creating new interpretations of the traditional Don Gallo Loteria cards...and it's a BLAST!
My cards this year were El Cotorro (the parrot), La Muerte (Death), El Moto (the motorcycle) and La Escuela (the school).
El Cotorro is a fun and colorful rendition of a young Frida Kahlo wearing her feathered dress to honor her beloved parrot, Bonito.
La Muerte is a blend of Our Lady of Sorrows and la Santa Muerte. Both are iconic female images of strength and offer help in times of need.
El Moto is a a representation of one of the coolest women to have ever lived, Ms. Bessie Stringfield. She was the first black woman to drive her Harley Davidson cross country. She was confident, stylish and lived a life that was her own in times of racial strife.
La Escuela is a representation of the Blackwell School located in Marfa, Texas and was a "segregated" school known for their harsh punishments of Mexican American children. Students were banned from speaking Spanish and were severely punished for "disobedience."
These pieces are available exclusively through the Cactus Gallery! Please check out the event online if you're interested. There are really some wonderful and works of art in this show, so check it out, Amiguis!
Amiguis! Michelle Cuevas Ceramics is having a special sale tomorrow with some of her sweet and one-of-a-kind hand sculpted shrines!
These will NOT be available in her big cartel store, but through INSTAGRAM!
Make sure to go find her on Instagram and then try and catch these beauties as she lists them tomorrow!
Details in her original posting below.
Support our hard working artists, Amiguis! Thank you!
I don’t cook a lot these days, but when I do it’s gotta be worth it! Made some beautiful red chile sauce (New Mexico chile, of course!) and packed the tortillas with some fresh Mennonite cheese and ready for the oven!
Yeah. I’m just posting a food brag here, Amiguis. But when I make New Mexican food, I am at my best! 😍
I feel totally goofy! I love this market! Ok so the edibles are just sugar, but sometimes sugar is all an old broad needs! 🤪😜😆
When the vieja is unsupervised, edibles and sugar overload will occur! 😵💫😵💫😵💫
First time setting up at El Paso’s Mystical Market at Keystone Heritage Park!
Small set up for me but this is my first time displaying my Bruja series canvas prints.
Weather is a bit humid but quite beautiful!
If you’re flying around, stop by and say hola!
Bookmark the date, Amigas!
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the Women's Art Show this year since I will be doing my own Balloon Fiesta Event at Santisima Gallery...but no reason why you can't come out and support both events. It's all happening in Albuquerque! :)
I'll be posting updates as both events draw nearer!
Using the random wheel generator at wheelofnames.com, I was able to input all of your names and then spin!
I wanted to actually videotape the whole process, but I had problem uploading the file because it was too big, which is why I'm running a little late.
The winners of the For The Love of Frida 2024 contest are:
Nanci Nelson
Yolanda Maestas
Soozie Wray
and Xochitl Budde!
Congratulations to the winners and I will be mailing your package out this week, so look for it to arrive next week!
Many thanks to everyone for playing along with me. I do plan on purchasing more of these calendars and journals to feature them in future games!
Please also remember, never hit any link that looks like it was sent by my page. I will NEVER send you a random link. I try to block these bots that attack my page whenever I have a fun feature like this, but they always seem to find me, which is really discouraging. But please know that I would never, ever solicit you for anything, Amiguis. And I would never send you a message saying "Click on this..."
¡¡Mil Gracias!!
Amiguis! Please do NOT click on any links! A BOT has found it's way into my page and is sending everyone links. That is NOT how I work this. I will do my thing tomorrow at noon (MT) and will announce the names right here, ok?
Never click on any links unless you know for certain it's coming from me. Be careful, Amiguis!!
Also, I have turned off comments for the previous posting so those of you who have commented are the ones who will be entered in my thingy tomorrow. (Clearly there are trigger words for these damn bots to find me so I'm just gonna call this a thingy.)
Amiguis!
I am so excited. My complimentary copies of 2025 For The Love of Frida Calendar and Weekly Planner arrived today!!
These items are designed by Angi Sullins and they are absolutely gorgeous! This is the second time that my artwork has been featured in these publications and I am so honored!
These items are not officially available for sale to the public until July 9th, but I think that blessings just need to be paid forward and since I'm feeling pretty blessed right about now, I am going to giveaway these 4 items to 4 people. Each winner will randomly receive either the calendar or the planner.
The only requirement I ask is that you have purchased something from La Tiendita at some time. That's it.
Just comment below "For The Love of Frida 2025" and I will have a drawing tomorrow (Wednesday 6/12) at noon (MT)!
Thank you so much, Amiguis, for all of your orders!
I am so very grateful to you all! 😍
I will be packing up orders today and have everything in the USPS by tomorrow.
Tracking numbers will be available if you need them.
¡¡¡Mil Gracias!!!

No pre-sales on these items, Amigas. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Amiguis, I have a few new original works that I will list in La Tiendita tomorrow!
Feeling pretty good today and I'm very grateful for that. The creativity is flowing and it's one of those times when I feel like there are not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do!
Will post pics tonight.
If you're in a hot zone like we are, please take care of yourselves and hydrate! And take a bit of time to pray for those who are unhoused...here and worldwide.
Rooted In Patriarchy. Current WIP. The latest attacks on the rights of bodily autonomy are the results of thousands of years of ingrained patriarchy embedded into our everyday lives. When do we wake up end this insanity of allowing men to make laws that govern our bodies?
Amiguis, I will be listing a few new Guadalupe originals. I had planned to do it this past weekend, but I've been sick the past few days with the flu. My husband had it earlier and now I have it. Just hoping I don't pass it to anyone else which is why I am staying completely quarantined for a while!
Anyways, as soon as I'm feeling better, I will post some pics and details about the paintings. And I'm hoping to make to Santisima next week to deliver my Brujas, but I guess that depends on my recovery time. First time I have been sick since pre-Covid. It sucks.
Stay healthy, Amiguis!
Guess I'm just painting for myself these days. And this may not be the vibe I always have, but it's the vibe I always want.
"In Her Element"
"¡Ay! qué bonito es volar a las dos de la mañana..."
(How lovely it is to fly at 2 am in the morning.)
The first phrase from the song, La Bruja. It's a dark legend about a vampire witch who looks for victims to suck their blood.
The song is haunting and catchy. It has been covered by many famous singers from Chavela Vargas to Lila Downs.
I'm often haunted by the melody and the words. Although I have created many pieces inspired by La Bruja, this is my latest one.
Have a lovely end of your weekend, Amigas!
I am super excited! One of my dearest and most incredibly talented Artista Amigas, Michelle Cuevas, is opening up her online shop tomorrow!
Check out her GORGEOUS ceramic beauties and be sure to visit her online store tomorrow, Amigas! I know I'll be there!
Amigas, thank you for all of your orders! Everything has SOLD OUT and I am so very grateful for your support!
I will be packing up orders over the next couple of days and should have everything out by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
You will receive a notice in your email when your item has been shipped. If you need a tracking number, please let me know and I'll get that to you asap.
Thank you again!
La Tiendita is open again, Amiguis!
Listings today include a nice little stash of mini woodblock hangers, one Baby Lupita original painting, a small selection of tin hangers and a bit of jewelry. I had a lot of requests for the Lucky Cat earrings and was finally able to re-stock those.
Oh! Also managed to find a couple of my mini woodblock triptych collection pieces of my Que Chola chingonas! They were stashed away in the studio and I had totally forgotten about those!
The link is below. Thank you so much!

Hola Amiguis!
I've been working on some random items in my studio. Been stockpiling these mini woodblocks and figured it was time to add the sealant and finish them up!
I'll be listing these mini's in La Tiendita on Saturday.
Also got my new supply of kitty beads and was able to make a bit of jewelry too! I had hoped to create more Guadalupe necklaces, but my supply of Guadalupe medals has been delayed, so they will be coming soon!
Hope you're all having a good week. It's Friday tomorrow...yay!
Amigas, I've been busy cleaning out my craft stockpile and will be posting a lot of mini woodblock prints this weekend!
I'll post details later this week.
Happy Sunday! It's beautiful here in Southern New Mexico! Hope you are having a lovely day. ❤

So many projects going at the same time and still, I felt the need to bead-up some necklaces!
Using my favorite stainless steel ball chain necklaces, I've added lots of glass Czech beads in shades of ochre and amber and mossy jungle greens. Guadalupe medals (with Santo Niño de Atocha on the back!) are added to complete the look the theme of Guadalupe/Madre/Tonantzin.
These necklace sets and others will be listed in La Tiendita tomorrow, Amigas!
El Paso people, this wonderful organization is holding a silent art auction on April 20th. If you're local, please stop by and check out the event and bid on some fabulous local art!
