Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working.

We are at the peak of summer now but before you know it winter will be here. Seasonal Affective Disorder is usually thought of occurring when the days get shorter and there is less daylight out but Seasonal Affective Disorder has the same symptoms as depression just has a pattern of occurring during changing of seasons. Millions of adults suffer from SAD and If you feel like you have significant mood changes when the season changes seek out help. there are many ways SAD is treated including Light therapy, Talk therapy, Vitamin D, and medications if needed.

Depression can happen at any age, but often symptoms begin in the teens or early 20s or 30s. It can occur along with other mental disorders, substance abuse, and other health conditions.
Depression is not a sign of weakness or a character flaw. Sometimes we cannot just "snap out of it, and many people with depression need treatment (therapy/medications) to get better.
If you have been sad for a long time and unable to do the things you usually enjoy, you may want to talk to a trusted adult about depression.
Both stress and anxiety can affect your mind and body. Both can have symptoms of:
Excessive worry
Uneasiness
Tension
Headaches or body pain
High blood pressure
Loss of sleep

Depression in men and women can differ quite bit but affecting both in high numbers. When we are stressed we react in different ways. Sometimes the usual symptoms of depression are not there and people can miss identify that the irritability, or anger could be depression.
there is a wide range of depression symptoms and each person is different. Mild depression can result in low mood, trouble sleeping and concentrating, and feeling down but you are still able to do your job, schoolwork, or housework and still able to take care of yourself and/or others. Treatment can include self care activities like exercising, contacting a friend, eating healthy.
More severe depression limits you and how you care for yourself and others. You may not be able to focus at work which results in callouts or poor performance, letting housework go, difficulty maintaining good sleep and letting daily responsibilities pile up. People with severe depression should seek professional help to include therapy and medications.

When we are stressed, depressed, or anxious, our brains may be playing tricks on us. Negative thoughts come more easily when we are depressed or anxious and learning to identify and catch ourselves when we think negatively is half the battle.
Strengthen your mind just like you strengthen your other muscles.
