Did you know? The Marquis De Sade (1740-1814) lived around the period Bridgerton was set (1811-1820). This means that while we burned for Daphne’s debut in London. The Marquis De Sade was living his last years in the Charenton Asylum near Paris, France. Here he wrote controversial work, following themes of eroticism, sexual freedom, and the exploration of taboo human desires. His work was often explicit including descriptions of sexual acts, violence and blasphemy. His work was often shocking and explored the nature of power, cruelty and human perversity.

His philosophy is what inspired us to create ABANDON. What better place to tell the story than sin city?
