El año pasado el portal CDN Deportes publicó esta imagen brutal bajo el titular "El Mundo del Béisbol celebra el DÍA DE ROBERTO CLEMENTE", a eso sí se le puede llamar "un homenaje de Grandes Ligas" ¿y que hacen? esto publicó hoy la prensa nacional (El Vocero): “Como cada 15 de septiembre, LOS ESTADIOS DE LAS GRANDES LIGAS SE INUNDARON HOY con el número 21 en honor al fenecido astro boricua Roberto Clemente (wao). El emblemático número ACAPARÓ uniformes, bates y bases con el tradicional color negro y amarillo de los Piratas de Pittsburgh, equipo con el que … jugó entre 1955 al 1972 y con el que ganó 2 Series Mundiales” ... pero añaden. “Además, los equipos aprovecharon para reconocer a sus jugadores NOMINADOS al PREMIO ROBERTO CLEMENTE, que se otorga durante la Serie Mundial”.
CLEMENTE tiene un día en que LO HONRAN año tras año pero también existe un PREMIO en su honor. En el mundo elite de las Grandes Ligas hay 14 premios para reconocer a lo mejor de lo mejor en el MEJOR béisbol del mundo; pero entre ellos hay solo 4 Premios que tienen NOMBRES de verdaderas leyendas:

MLB mourns the passing of Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda at the age of 86.

Known as “Cha-Cha” and “The Baby Bull,” Cepeda slugged 379 home runs, batted .297, and made 11 All-Star teams over 17 seasons.

He was unanimously selected as the NL Rookie of the Year in 1958 with the Giants. He was also a unanimous selection for the the NL MVP Award in 1967 when he helped lead the Cardinals to the World Series championship.

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Willie Mays, one of the most exciting all-around players in the history of our sport.

Mays was a two-time MVP, 24-time All-Star, 12-time Gold Glove Award winner, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In commemoration of "The Catch" as perhaps the most famous play in the history of the Fall Classic, the World Series MVP Award was named in his honor in 2017.

Mays was 93 years old.
