Specifically, Settelemeyer asked Sisolak’s office for details on:

The likelihood of extending the nonessential business closure order past the current expiration date of April 30

The deadline to decide whether schools in the state can re-open

Any priority list of nonessential businesses that may be able to reopen, with or without limitations

Whether future COVID-19 related task forces will include bi-partisan representation “from stakeholders and subject matter experts from regions across the state”

A spokesperson for Sisolak’s office did not immediately return an email seeking comment on the letter.

Women in Nevada is proud to endorse Assemblywoman Alexis Hansen in AD32 for re-election. One of the first qualities we can't ignore in Alexis is the love that she has for her family which is beautifully displayed on her website. As a hard working realtor, Alexis enjoys the opportunity to also interact daily with families within her community. On the political level, we've seen her love of family serve as a great strength in her leadership along with her deep love of Nevada.

Alexis is also a strong business advocate, cares about fixing education in Nevada, wants to protect our Second Amendment right, and more. Check out her website for more here: https://www.alexishansennv.com

"Our children are grown and the time has come for me to put to use the business sense, the mom sense and the common sense I have developed throughout the years. I have an innate desire to learn and to serve. I am up for the challenge and would be honored to serve my fellow Nevadans in the State Assembly. I would appreciate your vote this coming election day." -Assemblywoman Alexis Hansen

Home | Lisa 4 Nevada

It will be of no surprise that our next endorsed candidate is Lisa Song Sutton - Rep Candidate US Congress NV District 4. Lisa is an incredibly accomplished woman that embodies the patriotism and tenacity that we need in a representative for Nevada.

Lisa started her business career by working in a top Las Vegas law firm, specializing in business litigation. She then went on to create companies of her own. Lisa started her first business, Sin City Cupcakes, nearly 8 years ago, and today it is an iconic Las Vegas treat that delights tens of thousands of locals and visitors each year. Lisa is also co-founder of Ship Las Vegas, Elite Homes - Christie’s International Real Estate, and Liquid & Lace swimwear.

Lisa’s father is a U.S. Air Force veteran and her mother is a Korean-American immigrant. She is a strong supporter of our local veterans, active military, and their families. This led her to open Ship Las Vegas, a mailbox and shipping store, near Nellis Air Force Base in North Las Vegas, where she saw firsthand the need for services.

“Our nation’s success is built on the founding principles of encouraging and safeguarding individual freedoms and liberties. In fact, what is unique about our U.S. Constitution is that this guiding document – the supreme law of the land – wasn’t adopted to place limits on us as individuals, but rather to protect individuals from the heavy hand of government.” -Lisa Song Sutton

I’m thrilled to report I officially filed to run for state Senate this morning. For more than 20 years, Matt and I have lived, worked, and raised our family here in District 6. It will be an honor to represent all SD6 residents at the Nevada Legislature.

My vision for Southern Nevada is a place where workers prosper and businesses thrive, while our community benefits from a top-tier education system that will benefit generations of future Nevadans.

This week we are endorsing Jill Tolles for re-election in Assembly District 25. Assemblywoman Tolles was first elected to the Assembly in 2016 and has lived in Nevada since 1994. She was also a student at our very own, University of Nevada, Reno. One thing that we love about Jill is that she has always been active in the legislature- even before she was ever elected. From 2011-2015, she advocated for higher quality education in Nevada, which she still fights for today as an elected official.

Jill is not only passionate about high quality education to ensure a sound economic and socially stable future in Nevada, but her advocacy is evidenced by her work as a member of the St. Albert’s School Board, as a board member of the Education Alliance, as well as her work with other organizations aimed at improving education here as well.

She has been actively involved in ministry and volunteering through church and numerous organizations. Over the years she has served as a leader, speaker, facilitator, mentor, and volunteer to a broad variety of populations.

You've probably seen our next endorsed candidate on KLAS TV Channel 8 for the segmant "8 on Your Side". Mortensen is a force to be reckoned with and we believe will be a strong voice for Nevada in the legislature when elected to Assembly District 37. From education to job creation, Michelle will lead the fight to provide better opportunities for all Nevadans. Click here to read more details on the issues most important to her like: lowering taxes, education (check out her 10 year plan), healthcare, public safety, veterans, consumer advocacy and more. https://michellemortensen.com

"I’m tired of politicians who are too afraid to take a stand, too afraid to tell the truth and too afraid to be on the record. This is why I am running. The days of the same old, career, do nothing politicians must end. Together we can build a better Nevada." -Michelle Mortensen

Congratulations to Assemblywoman Lisa Krasner who is our next endorsement for re-election in AD26! She is the first in her family to attend and graduate from a four-year university and receive a bachelors degree, as well as the first in her family to receive a doctorate degree. Her proudest moment in the 2017 Nevada Legislative Session was working side by side with civil rights attorney Gloria Allred on AB145, changing the law for child victims of sexual abuse. Having invited both sides of the isle to vote on this legislation, AB145 passed unanimously in the Assembly & Senate with every Republican & Democrat voting yes. Governor Sandoval then signed it into law. We are proud of her work and can’t wait for her to continue.

For more information on Assemblywoman Lisa Krasner visit https://www.lisakrasnerfornevada.com/meet-lisa/

02/12/2020

We are proud to endorse Assemblywoman Melissa Hardy who is up for re-election in Assembly District 22. She was a strong voice in the 2019 Nevada Legislature having served on the Committee on Commerce and Labor, Committee on Education, and the Committee on Government Affairs. She was the primary sponsor of Assembly Bill 141, a huge step forward for ensuring that our senior citizens have access to affordable medication. Other issues she worked on included education, public safety, ending human trafficking, and protecting victims of domestic violence.

From her website:
"I was inspired from a young age by the strong sense of service my family impressed upon me. My father, Melvin D Close, Jr, served as Speaker of the Nevada Assembly in 1967 and President Pro Tempore of the Nevada State Senate in 1977 and 1981. He served honorably for almost two decades and made immeasurable contributions to our state. My mother worked as an aide for US Senator Paul Laxalt, and my uncle, Jack D Close, served in the Nevada Assembly from 1994 to 1998. This rich heritage instilled in me the importance of giving back, and a desire to pursue public service."

We'd like to announce our next endorsed candidate, Assemblywoman Robin Titus for District 38. Robin’s family has been in Nevada since the early 1870’s. They arrived here to work in the mines and settled in Smith Valley. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno as both an undergraduate and as a medical student. As a doctor she returned to Lyon County where she has served as a family practice doctor, Lyon County Health Officer, and served on the State Board of Medical Examiners. Life as a Nevadan has given her the opportunity to be a doctor, a policy setter and a small business owner. Lets re-elect Assemblywoman Titus so she can continue to be a strong voice for Nevada!

02/07/2020

April Becker is running for Senate District 6 and is truly a Nevada success story. As a working mom with young children, April put herself through college and law school at UNLV. She is a top-rated litigator and real estate attorney in Las Vegas. April has also been inducted into the “100 Hours Club” by the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada for her Pro-Bono legal aid to those in need. April values the opportunity a solid education has afforded her. As senator, she will be donating her salary directly to the teachers in her district. Her experience as a small business owner is desperately needed in Carson City. She is a strong fiscal conservative who believes we need to encourage investment and promotes growth, not grow government and tax employers out of existence.

April has our support!

Military family reunion takes center stage at State of the Union

Many incredible moments in last night's State of the Union Address wherein President Donald J. Trump went from awarding student, Janiyah Davis, an Opportunity Scholarship and urging Congress to pass the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act to reuniting the Williams family, a military family from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

There were so many other great moments in between. What did you enjoy most about his address?

militarytimes.com Sgt. 1st Class Townsend Williams made a surprise return from Afghanistan as part of the annual prime-time address.
