We're happy to announce some good news for Forged Battalion, our RTS game from 2018 that was developed in cooperation with Team 17. We've recently been given control of the game moving forward, and subsequently can update the game when time allows from other projects. And while we do have some other things in the works, some of our team members put together a small update to the game this past weekend to address of few player requests since it was originally launched.

We need you commanders!

We have been hard at work on 9-Bit Armies, the long awaited sequel to our 8-Bit Armies series, creating new units, new maps, new game modes and so much more! And we are now excited to start including some of our fans into the process of seeing how a Real-Time Strategy game is made!

This is not for the timid though. We are still in what we would call an alpha. Changes are coming in hot and the game will inevitably break in new and interesting ways. Whilst we are at a point where we think the game is fun, that does not mean it is balanced or that it will not eat your units whilst they're swimming...

So if you are ready to dive in, heh, to the deep end of the water we are now opening up to add playtesters in a limited number. Note that you will need to to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement, have a discord account and that we will be adding people in waves and not all at once.

We are excited to announce a new set of updates for our 8-Bit series of RTS games (8-Bit Armies, 8-Bit Hordes, 8-Bit Invaders) out now. With feedback from the community we have hunted down bugs, tuned things up and even the virtuoso Frank Klepacki has provided three new music tracks which you can experience in-game as well as in the soundtrack DLC.

Some of the standout changes we have made include fixing up the exploit that allowed players to see when a resource node was being used. Some changes to the Gremlin and Heavy Drone. As well as several fixes that should smooth out the remaining hiccups some players were experiencing.

Reflecting on 20 Years at Petroglyph

Two decades ago, a small, dedicated group of developers working out of a one-room office embarked on a journey with a shared vision. Throughout this time, we've had the privilege of creating a number of games that have hopefully brought as much joy to play as it was to create them.

From our early classics like STAR WARS™ Empire at War and Universe at War, to recent titles such as Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection and The Great War: Western Front™, we've strived to push the boundaries of strategy gaming, introducing new IPs and crafting immersive gameplay experiences. Our achievements over these 20 years owe much to the creativity, dedication, and passion of our team, past and present, as well as the incredible support from our awesome community of players.

As we mark , we look forward to the future with great enthusiasm. Here's to the next chapter of Petroglyph, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been a part of this wonderful voyage!

New week, new thought for RTS fans out there.

As we head into the weekend remember that you have nothing to fear so long as you have your phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

You were uh... so preoccupied with whether or not you could. That you, uh, never stopped to think about if you should... use dinosaurs on the battlefield.

Spooky month approaches and we are dusting off some old bones. We tried to explain that we need them out on the front lines by next dusk. Hopefully they still remember how to nock an arrow.

One of the many great things about Real-Time Strategy games is how diverse the factions often are. You can have contemporary day marines with machine guns, extra-terrestrials made of living coral swallowing up the map, or an army with a literal fire-breathing dragon in the vanguard!

What is your favorite faction, aesthetically or gameplay-wise, in an RTS and what made it cool to play as or against them?
