Finally reaching the end of the week for DBLS as we prepare to close up tomorrow. The last job of the day is a simple B&T, and we even get to fly the drone with it—should be an easy wrap-up to the week!

We always take the opportunity to mentor our next generation of crew members, whether in the field or in the office. These teaching moments are crucial because, one day, they will be the foundation that carries forward the legacy built by those who came before them. With our experienced crew chiefs and project managers, we are ensuring that our next generation of surveyors working at DBLS are set up for success to one day lead and teach.

After two years of dedicated hard work from the DBLS construction crews, it’s nice to see the finished product of the Rancho storage facility. The new facility is completed and is now in the hands of our DBLS topo crews as they begin to perform an ALTA Survey. This ALTA survey is crucial to accurately document the facility’s property boundaries, improvements, and easements. This step helps protect the interests of the owner and lender by confirming that the property meets all legal and title requirements.

Big congratulations are in order for our DBLS Company President, Trent Keenan, who has recently passed the New Mexico State-specific exam!🎉

Trent is someone who constantly strives to better himself and those around him. His dedication to excellence and personal growth inspires all of us here at DBLS. We are incredibly fortunate to call him our boss, mentor, and leader.

Congratulations Trent, for knocking down another state!👊Here’s to many more successes ahead!

Tomorrows session:
NLC Three-Stage Boundary Survey Process (Part 1 of 3 )

NLC conducts every land survey using a three-stage process. Stage I Record Research, Stage II Field Work, and Stage III Analysis and Map/Report Creation. This three-stage process is followed to ensure that our opinions are complete, accurate, and robust. The sub-processes of each Stage may vary depending on the type of survey being conducted.

Stage I Record Research

Record research is key when conducting any type of survey, especially a boundary retracement survey. While most surveyors obtain the vesting deed, and some surveyors follow the chain-of-title beyond the vesting deed, it is not usual for surveyors to do a cursory Stage I, thus missing boundary line agreements, trial court cases, and other important conveyances. Without a thorough Stage I, it is impossible to conduct Stage II or Stage III properly.

In tomorrow’s MM session, Tony will be discussing how NLC conducts Stage I and some of the key processes that are often overlooked by boundary surveyors.

We’re back on site, extending our previous survey of the sewer lines around Silverado High School.
We are adding more detailed points to our existing boundary and topographical work from 2022, focusing more on the front entrances by scanning and gunning points with the Sx12. It won’t be long before we move on to the next job on the list for the day.

Congratulations to some of our DBLS crew members who took the next step in their CST journey last Friday! 🎉

First up is Connor, who passed CST Level 1! 🎊
Next, we had Tracy, who successfully passed CST Level 2! 🎉 And finally, Ryan who passed the CST Level 3! 🎉

Way to go, guys! Your hard work and dedication have indeed paid off. Keep up the great work!

What a great way to end the work week than with a day full of cloud coverage in the Las Vegas Valley! DBLS crews are all enjoying this refreshing change in the weather today. ⛅️

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 07/29/2024

The last time a DBLS crew was out here, the scene starkly contrasted with today's blistering heat. It was a muddy, rain-soaked afternoon, and the construction site was pouring the foundation for the building.

Fast-forward to today, and the weather couldn't be more different. We're now out here under the scorching sun, with hot winds whipping around us like a giant blow dryer set on high. Every five seconds, it feels like another blast of heat hits us, reminding us that cold weather is not coming anytime soon.

Despite the heat, this crew is wrapping up the last 20 points of wall staking, and then they can box it up for the day and start it all again tomorrow.

Today was a pretty easy day for our DBLS crew. When the hardest task on the agenda is laying out some wall points for the Dean Martin Business Center job, you know it’s a good day.

Precision and planning out these points makes sure no encroachment happens when the wall gets built.

This DBLS crew is working on a B&T of a house that recently had some county issues. They are seeking our help in showcasing where exactly their newly built shed is in line with the property lines. Once we finish the GPS work around the house, we will get going with the SX12 and get detailed scans of the shed and hard shots to see what is happening with it.

07/12/2024

You know it’s too hot when all the construction sites are shutting down by 1:30 PM, and you’re risking third-degree burns just trying to handle your equipment. 😂 But here we are, the last crew standing, sweating it out to finish this final curb around the building so they can start forming for their pours tomorrow.🔥

It’s just a total boundary day up here in Cold Creek. It made for an experience that will go down as one of those “remember that time” moments. The challenges a surveyor faces in the field are endless, but once you solve them, the gratification you get from it never disappears.

Wishing you a fun and safe Fourth of July!

Seeing the DBLS construction crews’ efforts and dedication come together to get closer to a finished product for our Ash at the Curve is always a blessing. We’re finishing up the last bit of blue tops and valley gutter staking for the loading dock side of the building. These final touches are crucial for ensuring the precision and quality of the loading docks.

06/26/2024

Sipping on some coffee while we set up the last control point for the SX12, to tackle those tricky final shots and scan the building face to make this project a wrap and good to go for the office. It looks like an easy day. We should be ready to head over to Cold Creek, NV, in the next 30 minutes to kick off our next B&T project of the day for a tiny house parcel out there.

Blink, and before you know it, it’s time to pack up and head home for the day. We spent most of today at our new church building site, laying out curb points for the front entrance parking lot. However, this construction crew will be back at it tomorrow, with a few more sites looking to set up their curb points. 💪

06/16/2024

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads out there! Thank you for your hard work and dedication. 💼👨‍👧‍👦

Time to move onward to the 4th job site of the day. This DBLS crew just wrapped up the re-stake this client needed to start the process of pouring some concrete for the curb. It will be interesting to see how this luxury hotel looks once it’s completed.

Time sure flies when you’re grinding away at marking these monumentation points. Just a few more to go, and this subdivision will be all wrapped up.

Just pulled up to the last construction job of the week with this DBLS crew; they will be here all day setting 150+ curb points for another industrial warehouse project in Sloan, NV. Hopefully, they can wrap up this project before today’s 2-3 o’clock heat wave hits the Vegas Valley.

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 06/05/2024

You know summer is arriving when it already hits 90 degrees before 10 o’clock. But that’s just part of the life of working as a surveyor in Las Vegas. Out doing a Boundary and Topographic survey at a shopping center today – it’s hot, but the job’s got to get done! 🌞

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 05/30/2024

There’s no better feeling as a construction land surveyor than an open site that’s fresh and ready to start the first construction phase! 🏗️ Laying out a rough grade to get things rolling for a new office building in Las Vegas.

Today, we honor the heroes who gave their lives for our country. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Another great week comes to an end for DBLS! With most of our crews returning yesterday, we took time before our usual afternoon meeting for an educational learning session. Investing in our team’s growth and knowledge is always a priority.🚀💪

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 05/20/2024

Halfway through the work day, we’ve just finished the boundary work for this B&T project for a house. Next, we’re tackling the topo part, which should only be a few hours of work. Then, this crew will be wrapping things up to head over to the last site of the day for a few check shots before getting a head start for tomorrow’s trip to California, where they’ll be working for the rest of the week. Busy times ahead for our topo crews.

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 05/15/2024

We kicked off the day with a boundary hunt to get our bearings, then dove into the setting of our monument work at our site. Hard work with a little elbow grease makes it worth the time it took to see the product in the ground.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms in the world!

Photos from Diamondback Land Surveying's post 05/06/2024

Today’s outreach at Yeshiva Day School of Las Vegas was a hit, with over 50 enthusiastic students attending our session on how land surveyors apply math in our daily work! We showcased our trusty Trimble X9, demonstrating how this incredible tool captures precise data, from angles to density, helping students visualize the world of land surveying.

The session sparked insightful questions about our projects, like the iconic Hoover Dam. We discussed how technologies like drones are revolutionizing our field, making it even more exciting and dynamic. Seeing the students’ eyes light up as they discovered the intersection of math, technology, and real-world applications in land surveying was fantastic.

Overall, it was an excellent time for us to spread the word about surveying; thank you, Yeshiva Day School of Las Vegas, for having us.
