Fabric retailer Joanns files for bankruptcy as consumers continue to cut back on discretionary spending.
In a statement Monday, company said that it expected to emerge from bankruptcy as early as the end of next month. Its roughly 850 stores and website will remain open for business.

A proposed 72,000-square-foot building that could house a high-end restaurant, cafe, wine cellar, speakeasy and event space was recently approved by the Clark County Planning Commission.

The project dubbed Skyline is being developed by Hukl Investments.

Family Dollar and Dollar Tree will close 1,000 stores.

Family Dollar will close 600 locations this year and 370 stores over the next several years as store leases expire. Family Dollar has around 8,000 US stores. Dollar Tree also said it will close 30 stores as leases expire.

New Year, New Tech: CES 2024 returns to Las Vegas Jan 9-12

The discount sector added nearly 1,800 net new stores in 2023. The three names that opened the most stores — Dollar General, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree — accounted for 30% of all new store openings this year, accounting for more than 16 million square feet.

Hylo Park - a 73-acre mixed-use project at the corner of Rancho Road and Lake Mead Boulevard in North Las Vegas. Construction is slated to begin in June 2024. The planned development includes entitlements for 1,300 residential units spanning a 37-acre residential component, a grocery-anchored retail center, restaurants and commercial services. The project will also include Champion Square, a sports village and public plaza. The sports-anchored center will serve the community and traveling teams.
