This install is featuring a "Large Essential" system. What does that mean exactly? Well our Essential system is our basic, bulletproof softener addressing all your hardness removal needs. All of the calcium and magnesium will be removed providing perfectly soft water throughout. We offer it in 2 sizes: the standard and a large. The standard sized Essential is a 9"x48" tank with 1cuft of softening resin in it (32K grains). The Large is a 10"x54" tank with 1.5cuft of softening resin (48k grains). We would recommend a standard system for a home up to 2500sqft or up to a family of 4. Anything above that or if you are just looking for a more efficient system, the Large Essential would be a better fit.
💧 What is the difference between the Guardian and the Champion systems? Both have a whole home filtration tank with 2 types of carbon, KDF-55, and a quartz gravel bed which will provide thorough filtration. They will filter the water to remove our most common, problematic contaminants from the water (chemicals, heavy metals, pesticides, chlorine, tastes/odors, etc..). Where they differ is how they are treating the hardness in the water.
💧
The Champion is operating with a salt based softening/conditioning tank. Salt systems are running with an ion-exchange process to remove the hardness molecules from the water to provide perfectly soft water all throughout the home. The Guardian system is running a salt-free scale control tank. It will promote and redirect the hardness molecules to remain suspended in the water, rather than forming scale buildup on your plumbing system. One thing to note in salt free units is you will not get perfectly soft water as you would with salt, you are, however, treating scale to be much more manageable. 💧
An Essential is a basic, bulletproof softener. It will be the solution if hardness is your only priority. All of the calcium and magnesium will be removed from the water providing perfectly soft water throughout!
What does a "split installation" mean? Well, it just means we split the install. Typically, we install both tanks of the Champion together on the soft water loop. When we install a "Split Champion" we install the softening system on the soft water loop and the filtration tank on the main water shut off valve piping. As the soft water loop bypasses the kitchen cold and outside hose bibs, we can ensure we are feeding at least filtered water to those locations by installing the filtration tank on the main.
Space is a hot commodity when it comes to having a 1 car garage and we are certainly understanding of that. While a whole home water treatment system is pretty much a necessity for our water here in the valley, it shouldn't take away space or cause inconvenience in your day-to-day life.
For this main installation, there was access to a drain in the garage, it just wasn't close to the main shut off valve piping. It was simple enough to run the drain line down the wall, but size and space was still a concern. We were able to install the Champion tanks tucked off to the side without impeding the ability to get a car in the garage. The brine tank is wider, so rather than making it a tighter squeeze getting into the garage, we ran lines to it in the back of the garage. With this Champion installed, our customers can now enjoy soft, filtered water all throughout their home!
How does having a water softener benefit your clothing?
• With hard water, the minerals in our water (calcium and magnesium) stay in your clothing which can cause your clothes to wear out faster or just look duller overall. With a water softener and having the absence of those minerals in your water, it is gentler on your clothing which helps them to stay bright, last longer, and even get your white clothes whiter!
• You can actually save on laundry detergent! With a water softener, you'll actually find you are able to cut your soap down to half or even a third of what you previously used to achieve the same result.
• With iron and manganese in our water, they can react with bleach and cause your whites to yellow. Running a system like our Defender or Champion, you remove those heavy metals and are free to use bleach as you please!
• Hardness in the water can actually affect the feel of fabric. The mineral build up left behind in your towels, sheets, clothes, etc. can make them feel stiff, literally hard, and scratchy. It will also cause your towels to be less absorbent over time.
These are just some of the many benefits of having a water softener. Many people believe a water softener is needed for the purpose of protecting your home's plumbing system, but the benefits are endless when it comes to adding a water treatment system.
Just a few of our recent installs! A full fleet of our whole home systems: The Champion, the Guardian, the Defender, and the Essential!
How is soft water beneficial for skin and
hair? Hardness minerals in the water can make
moisturizers and lotions less effective which could
result in overall irritation/itchiness, skin blemishes,
dry/irritated scalp and dandruff. When hard water
dries, it can also leave behind a calcium residue on
your skin which messes with your body's natural oils.
This can also clog your pores potentially leading to
acne. Another negative effect of hardness in the water
is taking away the shininess of your hair leading to dull
hair.
With a water softener, all of those calcium and
magnesium hardness minerals are removed preventing
the above issues to occur in the first place. Another
bonus: Without those in your water, your cleansers,
body washes, and shampoos with lather much more
efficiently so you can use less to make them last
longer.
For this customer, hardness and chlorine were some of the larger concerns they had with our water so they decided a Defender would be the best fit for them. With the Defender installed in their home, they will see hardness removed, chlorine significantly reduced, heavy metals removed, and no bacteria/algae formed inside of their resin tank.
There is a wide variety of information out
there telling you how horrible our water is, but not a lot
explaining what is actually in our water. Without
getting a true understanding of the contaminants in our
water, it's difficult to make an educated decision on
what water treatments are best for your household. We
have started a blog post series covering the
contaminants found in our water with information
straight from the source: the Las Vegas Valley Water
District and the EPA.
Contaminants in our Las Vegas Valley's Water (Microorganisms) With the first in our series covering the contaminants found in our water quality report, we explain what microorganisms are found in our Las Vegas Valley's water, at what level, and what that can mean for you.
Another recent Champion install! The Champion is our solution to address all the issues we see in our water: hardness, chlorine, chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, tastes and odors.
What makes the Defender special and better than your standard softener system?
The Defender is our softener/conditioner system that gets you perfectly soft water while also attacking some of the bigger issues we have with our water as well. It will significantly reduce the amount of chlorine in the water which is harmful for skin, hair, and lungs; it will remove the heavy metals in our water like arsenic, copper, lead and iron; and it was also prevent the buildup of bacteria and algae in the tank itself. While it isn't as thorough at overall filtration like our Champion, it is a system that kind of gets you the best of both world with targeting harmful contaminants and harndess.

Sometimes, simple is best. We are happy to help each and every one of our customers find a solution that best fits their household. One of our installs this week was an Essential system which will address all their hardness concerns, removing all the calcium and magnesium from the water. Our Essential is a basic, bulletproof softener option that will last them many years to come at our most economical price.
This week, we had 2 different installations that didn't have soft water loops and each decided on different solutions. One customer did not like the idea of retrofitting done to get a drain to a safe location so he opted for the Guardian. The Guardian is our salt-free scale control and whole home filtration system. It will thoroughly filter the water removing chlorine, bad taste, odor, heavy metals, organic chemicals, and microbes, while also attacking scale build up and the harshness of our water from hardness. Another benefit is that it does not need a drain or power making it a great option if you only have a main in the garage.
Our other customer had their laundry room on a neighboring wall of the garage. That gave us fairly easy access to a drain so all we needed to do was run a line through a wall. They decided on a large Essential system as a bulletproof, straight-forward softener option to provide perfectly soft water throughout their home.
To install a softener system, a water supply for the home, drain line, and power outlet is needed. If a home doesn't have a soft water loop (which has all of these installed in the same area), how can an installation be done?
This is a recent Defender install where there was no loop present. The main water shut off valve piping was located in the garage so that gives us a water supply, but we still needed a drain line run to a safe location and needed a way to get power to it. The drain for the system was run to a sewer cleanout located on the other side of the wall: Power was easily grabbed from an outlet down the wall. We were happy to come up with a solution for our customer!
We have been staying busy this new year. Here are just a few recent installs. Thank you all for your support!
A new feature we added to our website is our FAQ page. It currently has 40+ common questions we have received over the years applicable to new customers or existing customers with systems installed. We hope to grow it more and would love to hear any questions you have! Check it out at: https://www.oasisplumbinglv.com/faqs
What is a soft water loop? Well here's a picture of one to see! One of the first questions you get asked when you start looking for a water softener system is "Do you have a soft water loop?". All that means is your home is pre-plumbed for a softener with the water supply, drain line, and power outlet all in the same area, ready to get a softener installed. Having a loop installed in your home simplifies a softener installation and allows us to be able to get you exact pricing on a system without the need to get a person out in person. If you still aren't sure if what you are looking at is a loop, we would simply just need a picture of the piping you see sent over to confirm.
One of our most recent Defender installs! While not as thorough as our Champion, our Defender is addressing some of the worst aspects of our water: hardness, chlorine and heavy metals.
"What does a reverse osmosis system look like below the sink?" is a question we receive quite often. We have customers who are concerned that an RO system will take up the entire space below their sink leaving them no room for cleaning supplies and other items. While an RO does take up a decent footprint, we try to take up the least amount of space as possible. This Purifier install is located under only half the sink, but still has a little room around it. This leaves plenty of room around it for whatever you'd like to store below.
This Essential system was a perfect fit for our customers’ space they had below their shelving. A great solution to get them perfectly soft water in their home!
Our new website is officially live! We wanted our website to better represent us as a company and to become more of a resource for both new customers and longtime customers. We’ve finally finished this project and feel it achieves just that. Click the link in our bio to check it out!
One of our newest Defender installs! Our Defender system is one of our best sellers for a reason. Not all of our customers are looking for whole home filtration, but they still want to target the harshest areas of our water. The Defender does just that by softening the water, removing heavy metals (copper, lead, iron, arsenic, etc.), and significantly reducing the chlorine in the water.
Out with the old and in with the new. Our customer needed to replace this old existing softener and decided to upgrade to a Defender system. Swipe to see the before >>>
New jackets, same Champion! We’re loving the look of these platinum jackets on this Champion installed in our customers garage.
Plants do not care for soft water, but removal of chemicals, chlorine, pesticides, heavy metals, etc. should keep them happy when it comes to watering them from an outside house. With a split installation of the Champion, our customer gets filtered water out of their hose bibs and their kitchen cold as well as soft/filtered water everywhere else.
Another week, some more installs! With so many people new to the Las Vegas valley, it’s hard to get an understanding of what type of water treatment system you actually need for your home. At Oasis, we are happy to go over each of our systems with you to let you know what they will do and what they target in our water so you can make an informed decision on which would work best for your home and family.
