Ellen Lamb(Stromburg) long time sailor,past commodore (1990) and dear friend of Nevada Yacht Club has passed away.
Sailing on Esta, she was a force to be reckoned with on the water!
Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with the family, she will be missed!

Signs, signs everywhere signs …

I have done a lot of Windward takedowns, Mexicans, this is the first Windward hoist of a Spinnaker. The two boats ahead hourglasses trying to do the same maneuver. Sneak the spin head up the windward side, turn down, manually move the the kite around the spreader and forestay. Haul in and go. Left us at a fast angle to mark.

Avoiding the heat by going to High Serria Regatta.

It's alive! It only runs a few seconds on either. The fuel line is broke and the filter is clogged. Carb float bowl is full of rust. Not a stopper. Next comes lower end inspection, I think it may have an aluminum impeller.

This Saturday is frostbite number one and it looks like we’re gonna have absolutely perfect wind, might be a little chilly but let’s go have some fun guys.

So I saw today a post on Lake Mead family boaters of someone complaining about the wind for this long weekend.
That someone should’ve saw what the temperatures were going to be very mild compared to normal Fourth of July weekend.
Anybody sailing this weekend?!

This weekend is the single hand on Saturday and the Jack-Jill race on Sunday
The forecast looks great with winds about 13 and a high of 90 for Saturday (perfect)
Not too sure about Sunday yet.
We plan on having a raft up Saturday to socialize, should be fun!

This weekends Darling memorial long distance race is canceled due to lack of wind.
Sorry for the late notice as I was checking the forecast and hoping for a change in the forecast but to no avail

Hello Nevada yacht club
I will be sending out the notice of race and entry forms for both the single hand and the Jack and Jill race coming up on the 21st and 22nd of this month.
These are fun races and just for bragging rights(okay there’ll be a nice little trophy at the Wor presentation also)
This is open to anyone and everyone and everyone should come out and go on the water to observe this, it is really a lot of fun.
Speaking of fun I’m looking for some suggestions and ideas on what to do Saturday  Afternoon after the races are over that the entire yacht club can participate in the raft up, barbecue etc.
Would love to hear your suggestions and looking forward to having fun with all my Sailing family!

Nevada Yachtclub‘s general meeting last night was a great time with a fantastic turn out, thanks for all who showed up!
I brought up resurrecting our thirsty Thursdays and it was very well received and looks like we could possibly have 6 to 8 boats out every week
thirsty Thursday is a great benefit for Nevada Yachtclub and it’s sailors, this is a great way to get new sailors without boats on the water  and some of the new sailors with boats more experience.
I believe our page is the best medium for sailors and skippers to communicate together and have a great time on the water., So please use it and go out and have some fun on Thursdays!
