4 Things You Can Do to Help
- Write to Danish Royals & Leaders📬 Tell the Danish King, Queen, Prime Minister, and Minister of Justice to stop the extradition.
- Write to US Leaders✉️ Urge the US President and Secretary of State to pressure Denmark to protect Paul.
- Write to UK Leaders📩 Push the UK Prime Minister and Copenhagen Embassy to support Paul’s freedom.
- Write to EU Commission & Human Rights Committee💌 Demand the EU to pressure Denmark against the extradition.

Over a dozen Danish police and SWAT team members boarded the M/Y John Paul DeJoria in Nuuk, Greenland. Paul Watson was arrested, linked to a former Red Notice for anti-whaling actions in Antarctica. The International Court of Justice declared Japan’s whaling program illegal in 2014.

Paul Watson, the founder of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation and former Greenpeace leader, has dedicated his life to protecting marine life. Extraditing him to Japan endangers his life and sends a chilling message to environmental activists.

Denmark prides itself on environmental leadership. Yet, arresting and extraditing Paul Watson undermines these values. Urge Danish authorities to release him and deny Japan’s request.

Act now! Your voice matters. Together, we can and continue the fight for our oceans. 🌊💪”

They deserve to be seen, so we’ll see you this Friday, July 26th for the next vigils. Watch out for more info, or message for any questions.

A few posts ago, we shared about (another) vigil with unwanted cop presence that got some attention, and with that attention we want to show some reminders of why we keep returning to the local Vegas slaughterhouses despite the animosity from “authorities” and slaughterhouse management. 10 slides of thousands of lives from an “family owned and pasture raised” farm ( / Pitman Farms) brought to Vegas from the Fresno area to be destroyed. What’s “legal” isn’t moral no matter the species.

What we do to animals causes their pain, their suffering, kills them and kills us, and also the earth we share in the end. If what’s taken from them is forced to happen in the dark and stay hidden, we’ll keep showing you what happens to vulnerable bodies treated like objects.

See y’all at today’s ’s all vegan farmer’s market from 6-10 pm at 11055 Las Vegas Blvd South, we’ll be there with merch to support our rescues and also for our animal friends at 🌱

Thank you everyone who has these “Friends not Food” shirts with Joaquin on them, they along with the original “Liberation” tee collab with .illz are memorial shirts now since Joaquin and DJ on the “Liberation” shirt have passed. Seeing them in this way beyond just photos in albums, on our phones, and in memories is another reminder of why we continue to rescue and fight for them. We miss them everyday.

And thank you to everyone who supports the animals, not just our slaughterhouse survivors and their fellow rescued kin with other merch, donations and coming out to events. We truly appreciate it 🫶🏽

‼️Animal advocacy this Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th in Vegas: On Friday at 6:30 pm will be a demo in front of Louis Vuitton organized by for then to adopt a fur free policy. After the continued hard work and dedication of activists in pressuring Marc Jacobs in going further free, Louis Vuitton has even less excuses than before. See for more info.

On Saturday starting at 11 am will be a SeaQuest protest to keep exposing the horrors SeaQuest forces onto animals by exploiting them for profit (and lying to children and their families to pose as an “educational” place that cares about animals.) We aren’t organizing this demo, so please reach out to CaseyK@peta@org for further details.

We have 1 spot left for our vegan food justice cooking demos on July 20th- see the previous post and pinned post on our page for all details!

07/09/2024

🌱 Join us for our next event! Limit of 12 spots- please message us or email [email protected] to RSVP. See below to learn more, and please come through if you need a meal.

🍉Vegan food justice is an initiative to make nutritious and culturally representative vegan food accessible and affordable to all, and who better to do that than liberation focused activists of different communities who want to share some of their favorite dishes with you.

▪️We welcome visitors to say hi to our rescue chicken and duck family members at 6:30 pm.

▪️We’ll start with an intro to what food justice is, and how animal liberationists can positively impact mutual aid spaces and projects with making, sharing and donating nutritious animal free groceries.

We’ll be enjoying vegan cooking demos from:

☀️ of who will be making a Palestinian meal and speaking on solidarity.

☀️ , who will be making a Mexican meal and sharing her roots as an Indigenous-Chicana activist.

☀️ , who will be making a Southern Paiute dish and speaking on the historical presence of plant foods in Southern Paiute culture.

🌽 Our goals are to to give vegans an understanding of how we can impact food justice and mutual aid spaces for the animals as part of activism, share space and cultural dishes, and also feed those within the community who need a meal.

✊🏽 If you’re an activist who does vegan outreach, this event will also strengthen your understanding of the relevance of animal free foods in diverse communities as well as learning resources to share with others.

▪️If you plan to visit our rescue family, we ask you not wear shoes that you’ve worn in areas with wild birds. We will provide booties to place over shoes as well, because biosecurity and safety for the birds is a priority.

If you’re in Vegas right now, you know the weather is unforgiving. It’s brutal. It’s really, really hot, with temps being between 115-119 until next weekend.

A couple weeks ago, we dropped off a few boxes of these cooling pads and plant based pet wipes, courtesy of , off to for them to distribute to unhoused neighbors and their animal companions. We also keep a couple boxes on us when driving in case we see someone who could use them, along with bottled water in a cooler.

Any of us can help in this way, because none of us deserve to suffer in this heat. See for more of their work and how to support, especially right now, lives depend on it.

‼️ Pretty Nose vet bill fundraiser support is appreciated ‼️ Everyone loved her at the vet and she’s trying hard to feel better.

✔️PayPal: [email protected]

We are extremely worried about our girl Pretty Nose. On Monday, we rushed her to an emergency vet appointment for fluids, an implant to stop egg laying (for nutrients to be distributed elsewhere in her body), x-rays and medication. This was an unexpected vet bill at $814.19. The video in the comments is from yesterday.

We are waiting for her x-rays to be emailed to us, but they showed a small growth near her reproductive area. It’s not clear yet if it’s a tumor or an egg that didn’t fully form, so we are monitoring her, but she’s not acting like herself.

Implants affect their appetites, however she’s not food motivated at all. If you see some of the videos of her, she loves snacks. We are tube feeding her to ensure she gets enough nutrients along with her anti inflammatory medication to relieve any internal pressure she may be feeling. Trying to stay calm to be the most effective chicken nurse while also taking care of her fellow family members has been difficult, because these situations feel like no matter how hard we try for them, there is always something…

Pretty Nose is a slaughterhouse survivor who saved herself in August 2021. She has always been a confident, brave and goofy bird with a personality that shines. She brings us joy everyday being her guardians and seeing her as her usual happy self, and seeing her like this is heartbreaking. We love her so much. Please support if you’re in the position to, and please share.

Photos from Las Vegas Animal Save's post 07/03/2024

We don’t celebrate July 4th, but too many within the Vegas community on the native Southern Paiute land we’re on (and also the casinos) do, based on what appeals to the masses without question surrounding this illusion of liberation and a sanitized, white washed history.

‼️There’s a “Farce of July” workshop on the 4th organized by .hashtag for anyone who can attend, see their pages and the last 2 slides for more info ‼️

Fireworks add a harmful and toxic element to this illusion. Please keep your non-human family safe during this time.
At the very least, July 5th is notorious for an increase in lost animals brought to shelters who get out and run in fear from the noise (shelters are already at consistent capacity, this is unneeded suffering caused by humans yet again) along with everything you see above.

Our vigils last Friday with were as always done with the purpose of exposing the animal exploitation that happens in Vegas to baby animals at the local slaughterhouses (Charleston and Highland Poultry), and in memoriam of the late activist, Regan Russell- murdered on June 19, 2020 after she was hit and dragged by a slaughterhouse driver while crossing the street in front of Fearman’s Pork in Ontario, Canada.

We were met with the unwanted presence of cops (check back on our page for future posts), and further reminders of the need to keep returning back to these spaces of normalized violence.

All photos by and caption below from :

“Global Vigil for Regan Russell

We joined with to bear witness to the suffering of these chickens and ducks at Charleston and Highland Poultry in honor of Regan Russell who was killed while giving water to pigs in Canada.

Just a few miles from the Las Vegas Strip, exists a horrific place where the lives are stolen from these individuals.

They come from Pitman Family Farm in California and are marketed as free-range, organic Mary’s Chicken, which supplies **also and

There is a misconception that these farms care for their animals. Therefore, they make a great alternative. In reality, they all face the same horrific death at the slaughterhouse.

The industry doesn’t want you to see these images. They want you to continue seeing the animals as objects, but they are sentient beings who don’t want to die.

Please consider their right to bodily autonomy.

Please stop paying for their exploitation.”

‼️ See you tomorrow for the memorial vigils for Regan Russell alongside . For more details, see the following slides and info below.

This is the reality that people don’t see before chicken sandwiches, soup or anything with their dead bodies; this is what’s kept hidden. The Vegas slaughterhouses are supplied by who pride themselves on being “organic fed” and pasture raised”, these labels meaningless to the same destruction every time. We also know that these slaughterhouses are inspected only once a year by , so it falls on the shoulders of a few of us who care to expose what happens at them.

The two Vegas slaughterhouses are good examples of what’s hidden in plain site, Charleston Poultry just a few streets down from Fremont Street, and Highland Poultry, 5-7 minutes from Las Vegas Blvd. Without the slaughter truck in front, you wouldn’t know what they were- so we will continue to remind you.

‼️THIS FRIDAY: Join us alongside in memoriam of the late activist Regan Russell and for the chickens and ducks needlessly killed at the local Vegas slaughterhouses.

Regan Russell was an activist for vulnerable beings human and non/beyond human alike for 30 years before her murder. She was killed by a truck driver on June 19th, 2019 who ran her over while she was crossing the street at Fearman’s Pork slaughterhouse on Ontario, Canada. The man who killed her was given a fine and a traffic violation. Regan deserved so much better than the apathy she was given after her death.

‼️FOSTERS FOR DOGS, CATS AND MORE DESPERATELY NEEDED: Everything is provided for fosters at . See their page for more info- we also attached links to fostering and adopting in our Linktree (see bio.)

‼️Photos from/by and taken at , the local high kill shelter in Vegas who has taken in nearly 1,000 animals since the beginning of June. Over half were found as strays. In the last few days, they’ve taken in 338+ animals. Slides 1-3, 5 & 6 are emergency pop up kennels they’re using for new arrivals because their normal kennels are full

‼️The shelter had an adoption event yesterday where 77 animals left for foster homes and hopefully their forever homes. The housing crisis in southern Nevada is affecting all living beings- humans and our nonhuman family are struggling and suffering. If you have the resources, please step in, you could save a life.

‼️Slide 4 is of the 38 mostly Frenchies including a nursing mom and her 4 puppies who came from a single household. Backyard breeders are one of sources of this crisis; using animals for any reason is the root. These 38 are on a legal hold and aren’t available for fostering or adoption at the moment, but there are hundreds of animals who are and really need your help.

‼️We have more of these chill pads we’d like to distribute- we plan to drop some off to next week, and want to give some to others who can use them. They work great not just for dogs!

Last month we dropped off a few boxes of these chill pads generously donated by to for the adoptable animals. We’re currently in an excessive heat warning in Vegas, and everyone, humans and nonhumans alike, especially our unhoused community members, are feeling it. No one deserves to suffer in extreme weather conditions, but access to essentials are consistently a systemic barrier in our community and elsewhere.

🗣️ See the last slide for all the details on the .hashtag screening tonight, and for the rally & march tomorrow in honor of Jorge Gomez ✊🏽

These are snapshots of the last few years of events in solidarity and on behalf of local activist Jorge Gomez who was murdered by LVMPD at a Black Lives Matter protest in 2020. There was no justice, and there is still, no peace.

We collabed with .hashtag for a volunteer event at in June 2022 because Jorge loved animals, and these other slides are from a previous march, an evidentiary hearing and most recently a resource share with fellow community groups in February for Jorge’s 29th birthday.

In solidarity with all those who continue to fight toward liberation and should still be here, from the river to the sea. We are all we got in the end.

‼️ Two adoptable roosters at in need of a loving home ‼️These aren’t the best pics and we would love to go down in person and take more, but we haven’t been able to yet. As always, thank you to for always advocating for all animals and sharing these beautiful boys.

***We see Howdie’s cage floor is bare, straw and chicken safe wood shavings are preferred for their little feet (and for stimulation for foraging) and have shared that information***

It’s so difficult to find homes for these sweet singing birds due to zoning and outdated ordinances. The city of Henderson doesn’t allow roosters at all, and since there’s also no oversight on breeding chickens or places like selling babies that may turn into unwanted boys, the amount of roosters who need homes is overwhelming. This is of course through no fault of the roosters, or any animal that needs a home, and are often abandoned, neglected and/or killed because of it.

We offer to transport to a responsible and knowledgeable home within NV and neighboring states (CA, UT and AZ.) Please share!

05/29/2024

‼️ Courtesy post: Responsible and loving homes needed for two male domestic Muscovy ducks in the Vegas area (Darryl, the brown one and John, the black one)- the ducks aren’t bonded, but were both picked up at the same time as they’re being treated for leg issues. Once they’re treatment is over, transportation is available within NV, and to CA and AZ‼️

We’ve been trying to support a fellow rescuer who has been helping abandoned domestic ducks at a local area prone for dumping. Domestic ducks cannot thrive or survive in these spaces despite any assumptions humans want to make. They can’t fly, food sources are inconsistent, and they’re extremely vulnerable to disease, sickness, injury and being harmed by cruel humans or attacked by other animals.

They’re usually former pets who people no longer want to care for and decide to abandon, so their friendliness can also be a death sentence. Please share, and DON’T ABANDON ANIMALS. If you know someone is planning to do this, please give them alternatives of reaching out to grassroots groups like ours, sanctuaries and no kill shelters. Yes, often these resources are overwhelmed, but sharing is possible and spaces can open up. If you see something, say something, it could save lives.

This Friday, please check out stories and for updates on where the truck and the group are: Join us and for vigils in solidarity with international respect for chickens month on Friday, May 24th 3/29 at the local Vegas slaughterhouses.

Chickens are the most abused land animal with over 70 billion individuals killed per year. What happens to them at slaughterhouses, farms and in the “backyard chicken” world is a normalized violence where they’re exploited for their flesh, eggs and for fighting.

We know that what’s legal isn’t moral, and are reminded daily with the commercialization and commodification of living, breathing beings in “animal”agriculture, animals used for entertainment, animal testing and within any space where sentient beings are treated like objects.

It’s been a sad week since losing our beloved Joaquin, so here’s a bright spot through the grief of Littlefoot nesting in the mint. Thank you to our friends and everyone who shared their condolences over the last few days, we really appreciate the love.

Of the 6 years we’ve been within the chicken and duck rescue world, caretaking for these beautiful individuals, and advocating on their behalf, losing loved ones, the liberated ones who tried so hard to live and thrive, never gets easier.

There is a lot of blame and guilt within this landscape even if we always give them everything we got, there is anger for how the world holds chickens and non-human animals equivalent to objects and garbage, and there is of course, the sometimes constant grief.

But even with the grief, we still have to care for the animals, work, organize and also do our best to take care of ourselves. So we try to pause for moments like in this pic to be reminded of what we love, fight for, and believe in: liberation, doing no harm, but taking no s**t, and to keep going.
