Our Mr Gay America HIStory spotlight tonight is our 17th King.
Kristian Martinez, Mr. Gay All-American 2000
πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘
Kristian graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, & started competing in 1994, when he won Mr Gay Texas USofA on his 1st try. That same year he went on to the place 3rd alt of a Mr. Gay USofA. He competed in the USofA system for 3 years before he won Mr Gay USofA 1997, representing as Mr Gay Georgia USofA. Kristian then went on to win Mr. Gay UNIVERSE 1998. After his reign as Mr Gay Universe and passing of the torch, he won Mr Gay Texas America 1998, (also on his first try). That year at Mr. Gay All-America 1999, Kristian was the best-non finishing finalist due to the loss of administration points caused by being late for registration. (It was the year that the entire Texas team got lost on their way to the club for registration.) Kristian vowed to himself that he would return the following year and win the contest. And it was to be, as he returned in 2000 representing Mr. Gay Hot Spring America, a regional preliminary held at the Discovery Night Club in Little Rock, Arkansas. At Mr. Gay All-American 2000, Kristian won every category overall both for preliminary night and overall final night with the highest scores. He was the only Mr. Gay America to ever do so, and the 1st dancer to win Mr. Gay All-American in the history of the competition. That year, the MrGAA was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kristian was medallionized by the late Richard Greer MrGAA 1999. Kristian’s fondest memory is of his opening production for my step down; it was a huge Latin Production to "All Night Long" by Lenoel Richie, including all 40 qualified contestants with former Mr. Gay America's Antonio Edwards, Richard Greer, John Reny, John Bebe, and David Pace and also included the Production the reigning Miss Gay America Catia Lee Love, along with former Miss Gay America Linda Carrero and MC Dieta Pepsie. β€œIt was an incredible Opening Production filled with streamers, glitter, and shooting cannon balls of confetti. An opening so spectacular, that word traveled to Miss Gay America held not too long after. As the Miss Gay America MC gave accolades of what an Opening Mr. GAY AMERICA had recently put on”.
MrGAA was 1 of only 3 National Titles a male entertainer could win, back in a day. And for Kristian, at that time, it was the final chapter of the male competition. He had won them all, and closing out the competition world with MrGAA made it all well worth it all.
β€οΈπŸ‘‘β€οΈ
Thank you Kristian for your legacy of excellence and hard work in our system.
