Well I have learned a few things this past week and a half:
1. A new way to Kitchener stitch and I am living this way and the outcome (final pics to come)
2. That my eyes are old enough to need one of these (pic 2) to do this needlework. It’s now on my wishlist of things to save up for.
3. My autoimmune disease is flaring and every time I have to take my girl in for an “emergency” a couple days later we are both fighting some new illness from whatever we were exposed to in the ED.
4. Moving closer to the city that is where all her doctors are would be ideal; it is a 4 hour round trip then there is all the waiting and stress she goes through. The drive and waiting time give her anxiety time to get really bad and some of our drives have been unsafe as she acts out physically in the car. It becomes a full day event often stretching into the night.
5. I think a bigger vehicle would be very helpful on these drives. Lots of logistics are too much to explain how this would help but it’s a dream thing to help us in many ways.

Y’all!! The scent I used for this soap is soooo lovely! It smells like a bouquet of roses. I made this batch Monday using a new-to-me process and I loved it! I cut it today. And now it is on the curing shelf.

(I am still trying to figure out a way to prop my phone for videos and I had planned on at least taking pics of this process but I needed to move a bit faster then stopping for photos.)

This is a vegan soap version of my triple butter recipe. I cut 24 regular sized bars, 12 smaller tall & skinny bars, and a handful of sample sized.
These will pair quite nicely with my wild rose sugar scrub.

Remember the unscented goat milk soap I posted about Friday? Well I cut it Saturday and then my girl and I had another 5 hour road trip to the hospital as she had some issues with her gtube she and I could not overcome without intervention but she did great and all is good.
Yesterday the boys and I spent most of the day putting up tarps and such around the chicken coop and prepping anything else around to make sure these southern animals are good for the extreme cold temps we are not used to.
Last evening I trimmed up the soap to give it a clean finished look. You can see the difference in the photos from the fresh cut to the ones I did close ups on.
This batch yield is 66 regular bars (a pinch bigger than a deck of cards), 10 round bars, and 22 small sample bars.
These will cure for 4-6 weeks then be listed online.
Scrub up; Stay clean.
Stay safe and stay warm.

Made a huge batch of unscented triple butter goat milk soap today. Slowly getting back into making since my daughters surgery and our new schedule. I have had quite a few requests to restock my unscented goat milk soap.
I made a special limited edition collaboration soap a couple of days ago I can’t wait to share.
I will not have any special soaps ready for Valentine’s as my November and December making and curing time got sidetracked by medical needs, but family first.
I do plan to have some special spring time and fun Easter themed items available.
I have moved most of my shop back to my tiny 8x8 making room at the house 😢 while my daughter gets more adjusted to her feeding tube and we wait for an opening in a day-hab for her.

After the hiatus I’m saving up to make a much needed supply order as well.

If any of you have any tips for growing a third hand so I can take videos to help with some social media marketing I am all ears.

And the online shop is open 24/7.

We lost our beloved Nugget yesterday. She showed no signs of her age or any illness until 24 hours before she left us. Big, beautiful, fearless. She was one of our very first chickens brought home on February 14, 2013. She was a Silver Cuckoo Marans.
She survived the attack of a pack of wild dogs - twice before our fence was finished, a hawk attack, and being annoyed by her humans on a daily basis.
And she could give an evil eye that could stop a raging Minotaur in his tracks. She hated being held or handled in anyway but she never pecked us. Oh but she could be vocal and call us names and curse at us in ways that could make a sailor blush.
As she survived so many things while we lost others we used to joke she was too mean to die. She was not mean; she was stubborn, proud, strong, fearless, and the one that taught them all.
She gave us big beautiful dark brown eggs, even into her 10th year. It may have decreased to one or two a month but those eggs were beautiful like she was.
This picture was taken 02/2023, on her 10th birthday.
It feels like the end of an era. She will be missed.

We have been gone a hot minute. We have been back in the hospital. Last Friday (12/8) with a trip to the emergency department, followed with a stay this week beginning Monday that has rocked our lives a bit. Prayers please. Adjusting to the new tube feeding regimen will take time. New medications. New routines. My plan to open a brick and mortar shop has been postponed and I am not sure when or IF I will get to fulfill that dream. Either way I will continue to make all the soaps and bath bombs and farm goods and keep my online shop open. For those of you who have ordered…THANK YOU! It helps keep the lights on. Shipping will resume as soon as we return home - looking like Friday. For friends who have donated to our day to day needs that have helped with utilities and some meals for me while away here at the hospital, I can NOT thank you enough.
Your support has made a difference. prayers for adjustment and balance in our new life are coveted. I can not believe Christmas is just over a week away and there is nothing at home to suggest how close it is. No decorations, no presents, no stocking stuffers. I have a lot to do when we return home. 🎄

Brown paper packages…
We do NOT ruin anyone’s Christmas gifting and receiving around here. I want to do some packaging videos but my orders lately have been of the gifting kind and I am not taking any chances on someone figuring out anything. 😉 Also underneath this brown paper packaging are boxes of goodies wrapped in adorable Christmas goat paper tied up and tagged for unwrapping when the day is here. Because i am not sharing packing videos right now I forget to get some photos of the cute wrapping paper. But some great gifts are headed out from our goats to land under a few Christmas trees.

I do not normally post about personal or family things on social media for my business but they do overlap at times and I wanted to thank my customers for being patient with me on getting orders out the last couple of weeks. While we were in the hospital over Thanksgiving week we are home now and have been finding our new normal. Lottie has a feeding tube now and we have been doing follow up appointments. So far, so good.
I am still able to get orders out and truly appreciate all my customers. This girl is my inspiration. I adore her.

Keeping my hands and mind busy these days while our lives go through a major adjustment. Crocheted hair scrunchies. My favorite is the extra large chenille one for thick hair. It will look great holding a messy bun. 😉

Lottie and I got to the shop this morning to find someone has gifted? lazily dumped? disposed of? decorated? Yes, decorated the porch corner with a pumpkin. It is real and not rotten. It is not tiny but it is a cute little squat pumpkin. The people around here have been really kind and accepting of what I am doing. It is still fall so I will leave it out a few more days then take it home to the chickens, ducks, and goats. Now if someone would leave an envelope full of cash. 🤣 I’d settle for a Christmas tree, but for use now not after Christmas. LOL

Is anyone else having trouble with their Verizon phones refusing to connect to their known Wi-Fi?
For a few days now none of us have been able to get our phones to work at home on Wi-Fi and the data is slower than early 90s picture heavy internet loading. This is stupid. It has been bad enough I am ready to leave Verizon. I have not been able to get media to upload for work.
My phone should (and used to) default to my Wi-Fi when I am at home or work. But instead it says it is connected to the Wi-Fi yet everything is defaulting to data instead and I have 2 bars of LTE. What the heck‽
And yes I have turned it off and back on. Multiple times. I should not have to do this multiple times a day to get it to connect for less than 5 minutes. But today the of/on reset does not even work.

Quilt binding is a process. Here’s how I do all mine.
I prefer bias cut binding.
1. Cut and piece binding strips together
2. Fold in half and press (finger press or iron)
3. Line up raw edges on front and machine stitch
4. Fold over to back and hand bind with a blind stitch
5. Enjoy the process and the fruits of my labor that’s a mighty fine mitered corner 😉

We are a mini-farm, a homestead. It is about the animals too. Not just us and what I can make for us. They need care as well.
For many in the goat world it is fall kidding season, which may also mean milking season is getting its reboot. This is one of the balms that started it all for us: the Original Sweet Teat Udder Budder.
You know how always washing your hands can also make them dry and cracked and it is usually worse in the winter? Well part of caring for the goats and keeping the goat’s udder healthy is keeping it clean. Keeping the udder clean also keeps the milk clean and bacteria free and helps protect the udder from mastitis.
Part of keeping the udder healthy is keeping it supple. When an udder gets dry and cracked like our hands do then there is an opportunity for bacteria to enter. So it becomes routine after the udder is milked out (by hand or machine) to massage on a bit of udder butter (teat cream, bag balm, etc).
I make a simple balm and a few with added essential oils. Tea tree essential oil and lavender essential oils are added to give extra benefits to the skin and they are safe for the animals.

I really wanted to do a video and pics of this beautiful order getting packaged up and ready to go out. BUT this had lots of Christmas presents included and I will not spoil anyone’s moment! This particularly large order was great fun to put together. And your Happy Mail is on the way.
(Peep the Happy Mail stickers I made that include my logo.)
Also I am getting low on certain items that will not be ready to restock before Christmas. So if you are interested jump on the website (or come by) to get those orders in.
