Moved a reprint of Mark Feiden's downstairs so we could see it every day. When I first saw it years ago in Lawrence it moved me to tears. How much l love the vegetation and landscapes of Kansas and the Flint Hills! Mark caught the light and colors brilliantly. We still marvel at it today.
Subtle colors in the winter. Just love it.
Chaco wanting me to toss the ball. Has lots of energy!
While in Philly, we took a number of walks in Wissahickon Park often along the Wissahickon Creek. Beautiful views of the creek, old walls and bridges, trails, beech, tulip poplar, witch hazel, Kelpius cave, Japanese knotweed, sycamore, etc. A true oasis in a city!
A bit of information about kudzu dispelling the myth that it ate the south. It is readily grazed by cattle, goats, etc. if allowed to.

A covered bridge in Bedford Co., PA and a few plants in the nearby woods.
Stopped by Latrobe, PA to take a break. It is the home of Arnold Palmer, Mr Rogers, Rolling Rock beer, and the banana split sundae. Yes, the banana split presumably.
A visit to Pennsylvania with Joy, my wife, to see where I grew up. A great trip down memory lane. In Sewickley, our old house, a seedling, and Japanese knotweed along a creek. In Pittsburgh, the Duquesne Incline, the three rivers, Roberto, and the Clemente Museum.
I am so impressed how well the asters tolerate a drought. Pictured here are the purple-flowered New England aster and the white-flowered hairy aster. They show no signs of the drought. So many of the other prairie plants, at least on my land, haven't fared as well (e.g., shorter heghts, less vigor, etc.).
Views of an incredible remnant wet prairie in Lyon County....very tall sawtooth sunflower, very big stand of prairie ironweed, and a depression or gilgai wetland with sedges and spikerushes, etc.
Very ripe paw paw...ready to eat!
Watching the Pirates in KC. Beat 'em Bucs!
Sweet flag.calamus (Acorus calamus)--great medicinal herb prized by indigenous tribes. Improves digestion and many related issues; stimulates appetite; addresses sore throats, irritable coughs, laryngitis, chest colds; strongly antimicrobial; and helps with concentration and focusing attention. And more....one of my favorites and 1st medicinal plants I studied.
