𝑯𝒊 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔! 👋 The SONJ 2024 Summer Games is right around the corner, and we need 𝒀𝙊𝑼𝙍 help! We have volunteer roles open for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to ensure this 3-day event runs as smooth as possible for our athletes!

Trenton Thunder Game Update:
With Sunday’s game being rained out we wanted to remind you that ticket holders can call/visit the ticket office and exchange tickets for an upcoming game. If you did not get a chance to buy tickets, we still have some tickets left that can also be exchanged for a game of your choice. If you are interested in tickets, please reach out! Thanks!!

A note from the Area Director:

On Wednesday April 5th, Mercer County ran another event for our athletes and families.

If you missed it, you missed quite an event!

In a joint venture with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office and Trenton Catholic Preparatory Academy, an All Star team of Mercer County Special Olympics Basketball Players took the court at Trenton Catholic Preparatory Academy against staff from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office in our First Annual Full Court Press.

Neither side disappointed. The Mercer athletes jumped out to an early lead and held off a surging group of local heroes for a 57-53 victory.

If you missed this event, you missed

A Clown (yes, big clown suit and funky hair) don the court as a referee.

The clown ref and other ref play for 1 period as a member of the Mercer All Star team (while still officiating) that started the period with an 8-0 run

A third guest referee tossing the clown referee in the penalty box

A half time foul shooting contest go into a sudden death 30 second shoot out after a tie.

A Mercer Athlete and their coach starting a quarter in the penalty box

35 players on the court at the same time for the last 2 minutes of the game.

In the end, the Mercer All Stars stood victorious and are already talking trash for next year’s rematch.

We hear that the prosecutors office is currently in negotiations to sign that clown to a long term contract.

At the end of the night, this was still a FUNdraiser for Mercer County.

Thanks to all of your efforts, we raised a little over $3000 for Mercer County Special Olympics Programs..
