Today is Part One of our Love Came Down Christmas Event for our Community teens! We are getting ready to make over 250+ gifts over the next week to make sure our kids have presents to give back to their families for the holidays! We are still looking for sponsors for our gift-making stations - even a donation as small as $25.00 can help cover the cost of 5 gifts & the supplies used to make them! We still need food donations for our upcoming CORE Gift-Making Event on Sunday, 12/10 for our teens at the juvenile justice facility! Do you know what we love at Reset? Piggybacking off of Robotics - we REALLY love our Life Skill Trainers... Want to know why we love them? Because when Mrs. Amanda accidentally falls in the attic & her foot goes through the ceiling drywall, we have a guy on call who can fix that! 😂 Not only fix it but also turn it into a learning opportunity! Just a disclaimer - yes Mrs. Amanda is fine (Amanda is the one writing this post, I promise I'm a-ok) but we're SO happy that Mr. Joe and one of our teens were able to come to patch the hole this weekend!

We 💙 our Life Skill Trainers! Reset hosted a Robotics Class at the Resource Center for two of our community teens this past Saturday - where teens learned how to do simple programming, and robot building, and they put their finished products through the test of our hallway obstacle course! We love teaching teens skills they can take with them into their education & potential workforce!

Happy Friday! By this time next week - our staff & volunteers will be in full-blown Love Came Down for Christmas mode, making gifts with our Community & CORE teens! Our team goes into the Juvenile Justice Facility every 2nd & 4th Sunday to bring a little fun & fellowship to our teens in placement! We know it's BUT we are always looking for new faces to add to our volunteer team! One of our favorite things to do is teach our teens how to cook & bake! We did our 2nd Annual Fall Baking Class with some of our community teens & it was SO much fun! Each teen made 4 mini pies, cake balls, and monkey bread to take home to their families as a Thanksgiving treat! So thankful for our volunteers who came out to teach & share their talents with our teens! 🧡

We've never tried to fit 38 people into our teen center before - but this past Thursday for our Teen Night, we did just that! We are SO thankful today for our food donors & volunteers who donated sides and desserts for our teens! They left with full bellies & full hearts! We are also so thankful for all our mentors who showed up to make sure Teen Night was a safe place for all of our community kiddos to gather! We couldn't do any of what we do without you! 🦃🥰

our staff & volunteers go into the Juvenile Justice Center TWICE to make gifts with our teens and feed them yummy food that is themed around a Christmas movie! With Thanksgiving coming up - we had our teens put together some “Thankful Pumpkins” to get into the Thanksgiving spirit! We also had a HUGE turnout for our Thanksgiving dinner teen night yesterday - stay tuned for photos from that amazing event! 🧡🦃

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is always the yummy desserts & treats! Our team will be gathering here at our Resource Center on 11/21 to do a Fall Baking Class with our teens! It was a big hit last year & it allows our teens to make a dessert tray that they can present at their Thanksgiving Dinner & be super proud of it! Love Came Down for Christmas is one of our most FAVORITE events we host every year... We feed our teens, get them an adopter so they receive their very own Christmas present, and share with them the story of Christmas & Jesus's birth!

One big part of this event is decorating the Resource Center for when our teens come back from Thanksgiving Break & we want this place to look like something straight out of Whoville! Once a month, two of our amazing volunteers come to teach stand-alone cooking classes for our teens in the community. Cooking is one of our teen's favorite classes to attend (since food is involved 😆), and it gives them some basic cooking knowledge while also giving them a few tips for simple budgeting and meal planning!

Our Resource Center Life Skill Classes are designed to help our teens take their next best steps into adulthood - which can also mean leadership positions in school or at their jobs! Our mentors are making a difference and helping shape our community's next generation of youth!
