"Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Open My World (OMW) for the educational assistance provided to our 10 year old son via the Horse Powered Reading Program. He is diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, and Tourettes, and frequently struggles with completing and retaining his academic studies.

Our son was a bit nervous before his first session, but Belinda, the trained facilitator, was calm and kind and the mini-ponies were SO gentle that he was put at ease and was able to enjoy the learning process. The combination of kinesthetic learning with a focus on the academic skills and the well-being of the horses, instilled a sense of accomplishment and increased self-confidence. To our surprise, our son was able to memorize all of his spelling words and understand their definitions within a single session while having fun working with the ponies!

As an educator and counselor myself, I recognize how this program could be impactful for all students...the neurodiverse population, those facing mental or emotional health concerns, and the neurotypical or gifted/talented population. What a blessing to have OMW and this educational option in our area!"

It takes a lot of concentration to master moving a horse around obstacles in the arena. We are beyond proud of our riders, who conquer obstacles daily, both in the arena and in their everyday lives. Trails at Open My World Therapeutic Riding Center include carefully planned activities to help riders work on improving balance, strengthening their core, reaching across the midline of their bodies, and so much more! Your donations made possible an upgrade to our Bell Tree. We adapted musical handbells that we hung at different heights. Last Wednesday morning, our friends from the Leander Church of Christ youth group came out to 🎨help us give our volunteer office a GlowUp!✨
We still have some flooring to replace but we think it 🤩looks way better, already!
This space will serve as a break room (with central 🥶A/C and heat!) for our volunteers as well as a temporary 📌office space for parents and caregivers to utilize, if needed, while their loved one is in a session. 🐴
Thank y’all for your small, but mighty 💪group, and for choosing us once again. We are so grateful 🙏that you are a part of the Open My World family. 💕

🇺🇸Happy 4th of July!

This is a cute picture but the request is very serious.

Last night, due to the fireworks at the park right behind us, every single one of our horses became incredibly distressed. They were trying to run away from the explosions that even scared our retired police horse!!!☹️
It was pure chaos and there was nothing we could do to help them. Keeping them confined only made it worse as they tried to harm themselves to get out of their stalls.

Tonight, we fear it will be even worse.

In this modern day, with the knowledge that we have about how harmful these fireworks displays are to our wildlife, domestic pets, our Veterans(!), it baffles us that we are still encouraging these events, but we realize that they will likely continue, nonetheless.

However, YOU do NOT need to add to the problem by having your own, private fireworks displays all night long, in your neighborhood. We guarantee that NO ONE appreciates that.

What a special day, yesterday was. 🥰
Here’s a little sneak peek 👀 of the photos from our Spring into Summer Showcase🐴.

Oh and we’re not sure if y’all know this, but, WE HAVE THE BEST VOLUNTEERS in TOWN! 🙏
Y’all were simply outstanding 🏆in every sense of the word. The teamwork and 💪support that you provide are an integral component of what we do. Y’all care and it shows; we are so grateful for each and every one of you. 💙

🌷Our Spring into Summer🌞Showcase is this Saturday, June 8, from 9am-noonish!
🐴What to expect: Each participant will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, navigating their horse through a pattern in the arena, this will take approximately 5 minutes per participant.
🍩We will have complimentary cold waters, donuts and ice pops available.
⛱️Bring your chairs and sunscreen! We will have some shade and misters on in most areas, but it will still be in the high ☀️80’s during that time.
