Retroformance
We are Retroformance. A family speed shop since 1966. With a new generation, we breathe new life into the business and our craftsmanship.
Follow our journey as we build everything under the sun.
Matt putting in a late night last week getting some sensors wired up. Last few things on the list before juice to the starter 🫣
Our main man Garret giving us a hand this summer working on the prototype ⚡️. Who is ready to hear this thing fire?!
Here it is, the Retroformance M6GT prototype ⚡️ It looks a little more like a car in its current state, but if you have check it out on Gearz tonight at 8pm!
Obviously, it appears to be just a frame and an engine in this, but it is the all-aluminum monocoque prototype concept by Strickland Racing. We have been developing and refining this chassis and its components, to bring this car to market.
The challenge is to not only bring something state of the art, aesthetically pleasing, and well engineered, but at a price-point people can afford. Follow the show, and our social accounts as we bring you inside the project, to show what it takes to do something like this.
Shoutout to for hooking us up with an X-Max 3 printer. We have been hammering prototyping parts with PLA and then switch it over to their PA-12 Carbon Fiber. What an amazing tool to keep this prototype rolling and eventually switch over to production pieces.
Nothing like a 70s time capsule. This here is (what we are told) a “Wildcat”, a Manx copy in the shop getting a light restoration. Nothing like top off, wind in yo hair with some rose-tinted Ray Bans 🌹
MiniBike Monday with one of the first Retroformance builds - A Honda CT70.
This bike had been “restored” previously, and man was it a doozy. Lots of stripped bolts, wrong hardware, tired motor, and lots of rattlecanning.
This thing was stripped down and every nut and bolt addressed. Proper hardware, new coatings, refinished OEM pieces, all came together to make one award-winning piece of art.
It’s crazy to think we did this all on a little table in our first shop. Times were tough, trying to revive the shop, losing our grandfather, it’s wild to look back and see how far we have come.
What do we think of them fresh sneaks?!! ❄️
The Ramblur with a new set of custom steelies, wrapped in custom white walls. Looks pretty fresh out in this New England weather shenanigans 🥶
So stoked the build has been going in this direction, it’s a combination of customer input, engineering limitations, overall theme of the build, and trial & error.
I always say the last 5% of the details are what sets it apart from another car at the show, and that 5% is the hardest to get, and the least noticeable lol
We asked to render the build for us. Even though it denies the existence of a ‘59 Rambler it kinda got the theme. 😂
What do you think?
Rainy day maintenance.
Colin McRae’s WRC Subaru in for fluid changes & bolt checks. Only the best from goes into these beasts. #
Proud of this….
Custom transmission tunnel for the . Made from MANY pieces, we needed something that could be removable yet efficiently made for space.
The fl**ge was plasma-cnc in 4 pieces, then a second one was made to match in the floor itself, this way the fl**ge matches perfectly to be able to bolt in with ease.
A few days of hand labor to make the rolled pieces, angles, and foot box for the new gas pedal. Once tacked with the Mig, the outside was Tigged little by little to keep the seams as low-profile and clean as possible.
Stay tuned for the reel.
Lamborghini Mercy. These wheels are 🥵
Cleaning up when things go wrong. Unfortunately, the Lancia had a tough day on the dyno a couple weeks back, so it had to come apart, get repaired, and start going back together. Waiting on a few more things so we can get this thing screaming in all its Group B glory 🇮🇹🔥
