We'd like to give a shout out to the Marion County Heartland Coalition. We will be hosting some of their events in September which is Recovery Month. We want to boost the fact that they are giving out canvases for an Art Show in September that will be hosted by the library. Diane Calhoun-French will be here to walk through this book discussion with us. She is a retired Provost at Jefferson County Community & Technical College. She served as a member of the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau for many years with talks such as Popular Fiction for Women, A Cultural History of Paper Dolls, Tea for Two, Reading in the Age of the Kindle, and others. Here is a look at this week at MCPL! Just a reminder that August is our slowdown month where we offer slightly less events than normal so that we can plan ahead for the rest of the year and next year for our events. That being said you can see from the attached graphics that we have at least one event every day this week as well as Bookmobile community stops available! One of the events happening this week is our Kentucky Reads Book Discussion on Tuesday at 6PM. If you've picked up a copy of "Scissors, Paper, Rock" by Fenton Johnson at the library, or if you're just interested in the discussion, join us as we will have Kentucky Humanities Representative Diane Calhoun with us for that book discussion. We also have Babysitting Classes that we are offering with the help of the extension office, so if you're signed up for that be sure to join us on Friday at 6PM.
We are also very excited to announce that we will be open on Thursdays now at our Loretto Branch from 10AM-5:30PM, so if you live in the Loretto area, be sure to stop by and check out our collection, get a library card, use our computers or internet, or simply to pick up a schedule of what MCPL will be offering this month!
