Coping mechanisms are strategies survivors can use to help them process their emotions. You can work through them in therapeutic practices or by utilizing healthy methods. These include meditation, working out, journaling, drawing, talking to friends, reading and so many more. Self-care does not have to require a ton of work or exertion; it is about feeling connected, healthy, safe, and strong.

Learning common coping skills such as talking to trusted people and starting new hobbies can be especially beneficial to overcoming adversity. https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/2022/01/how-protective-factors-can-promote-resilience/
