Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there! 👔

Today, we're inspired by the incredible story of one of our team members. When her dad couldn't verbally communicate after surgery, she turned her love and dedication into a powerful tool to help others. Thanks to Orlando Health and The Foundry program, this inspiration has grown into something that's now helping many patients facing similar challenges.

Update on Delaney 🧡

In 2020, Delaney was hospitalized at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer for Children for a total of 57 days due to severe epilepsy. During that time, our team at APH did everything they could to stop her seizures. On April 15th, 2020 Delaney had a posterior disconnect along with a lesion removed by Dr. Samer Elbabaa, pediatric neurosurgeon.

"Each year we celebrate this 'birthday,' as that day was when the team at APH gave her back her life," says Delaney's mom, Michelle. "Since the first surgery, she has not had any tonic-clonic seizures [and she] recently she hit the one-year mark of being completely seizure-free!"

Delaney — who just completed kindergarten — continues to take anti-seizure medication and follow up regularly with one of her favorite neurologists, Dr. Luis Bello-Espinosa. She loves to take dance classes, visit theme parks and spend time outside with her family. 🧡

Meet Pablo, the star bartender of "Pablo's Pub"! 🍹

Pablo, also known as Paul Martinez, experienced a cerebellar stroke affecting his balance and coordination. Thanks to the incredible teamwork of our speech therapist Gaby and occupational therapist Kristen, Pablo is making amazing strides in his recovery journey.

Together, they created a unique therapy session tailored just for him, combining his bartending skills with therapeutic exercises. Utilizing the Lite-Gait, Pablo stood for 55 minutes, working on balance, coordination, and upper extremity control while making ‘mocktails’ for the team. His goal? To return to work and dance at his step-daughter’s wedding. 🕺

“Today made me feel like myself again,” Pablo shared after his session. Moments like these remind us of the power of personalized therapy and the resilience of our patients.

Join us in celebrating Pablo's progress and the incredible dedication of our Advanced Rehabilitation Institute therapy team!!

In honor of National Trauma Awareness Month, we're proud to highlight the new Whole Blood Program. Launched in partnership with Orange County Fire Rescue Department, Florida, OneBlood and Orange County, Florida Government, this program provides whole blood transfusions to trauma patients on-scene, before arriving at the hospital. 🚑

Whole blood is crucial for treating trauma patients who have sustained significant blood loss, delivering all essential blood components (red blood cells, platelets, plasma, and white blood cells) at once. Every second counts when a patient is in urgent need, and this program dramatically improves the chances of survival.
