I am a singer/songwriter who plays ukulele, guitar, and a hint o mandolin. I get much of my musical
I haven’t been singing much this past week, because I’ve been at the O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat and fighting a nasty sinus infection. But it seems that vocal break was beneficial. I’ve been struggling with getting this song solidly, but am pleased with where it is tonight. It is called “The Green and the Blue”. It’s a Scottish song that I first heard from Chambless and Muse, though it’s been performed by a number of other artists.
The (very very slow) Kerry Polka. Before yesterday I’d never played melody in mando. Never played anything but chords. ☺️

Had great times playing Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at Solace Outpost, Fleetwood Winery, and a brilliant backyard jam. Got to play alongside and with some fantastic musicians and even picked up a bodhran for the first time in a while. Thanks Alex The Red Robert Parez, Rob-Hoey-Music, and Andy Megas for organising and all the fantastic musicians for sharing space with me!
Had a great time at Dynasty Brewing Co. In Ashburn tonight with Dave Goodrum Music! Making funny faces at my photographer is my new fave pastime. I was chuffed to close out the night performing along with Dave for some songs I’ve not played before!
I would find an open mic. Let’s see if the thin air (and nerves) are kind to me! 😆

My dad recommended I learn this song some time ago, so I did and took this video for him for Father’s Day. This is “The Greatest” by Kenny Rogers.
They are cornering me!!
Had a great time as always playing at Wild Hare on Friday! It was really busy and I enjoyed every minute! I also made an impromptu hop over to the King’s Tavern open mic hosted by the illustrious ! It was a fantastic time and Faith was so gracious to join me on the flute!

Today’s song to say won’t be at Wild Hare on Friday, but you should go to Wild Hare anyway on May 5. Unless of course you are in Wi******er, the go to the Apple Blossom Festival, see the Wi******er Pipes and Drums (and visit Wild Hare Cider there while you are at it!!) is a song a I picked up today. I’ve had this song as a want to learn, being a song I grew up listening to, so pleased to add it to the book!
I give you Hotel California.
I won’t be at Wild Hare on Friday, so decided to post a video a day telling you to go to Wild Hare anyway on May 5. Unless of course you are in Wi******er. Then go to the Apple Blossom Festival, see the Wi******er Pipes and Drums (and visit Wild Hare Cider there while you are at it!!)
After getting Mealla back and Hop ‘n Uke, I realised I’d been neglecting Mando, so here’s a fun little song called “The Fox”. I’m starting to work on scales on the mandolin, so maybe soon my picking with be up to par enough to be able to play this song with the solo.
Sorry I didnt post a video yesterday. I got home around midnight and slept! 😆 But here’s your video for today. I won’t be at Wild Hare for my usual First Friday in May, so decided to post a video a day telling you to go to Wild Hare anyway on May 5. Unless of course you are in Wi******er. I’m just starting working on this song for guitar. The Bm and F transitions are and adventure for my left hand, but I’m doing really well with it, so am loving playing this song, thought I’m still working on the vocals in a few spots. It’s called Sailing to Philadelphia.
Had an AMAZING time at Hop ‘n Uke at North yesterday! I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great uke players and friends!!

I didn’t want to play a song for my song of the day that I was playing for the Uke Fest tomorrow, but there is no better song to celebrate our 11th anniversary than this song. This is a song I wrote called KMK.
Don’t forget! I’m playing tomorrow at 4 at Adventure Brewing Company North for Hop ‘n Uke
I’ll be playing at the Hop ‘n Uke Fest at Adventure Brewing North in Fredericksburg next weekend! I play at 4pm, but there will be great ukulele music all day! Come and visit!
Video of the days is struggling to upload on Facebook. Might upload ten times over night, but until then, check it out on Instagram. 😆

This is another new song I learned recently. It’s called St. Peter’s Bones by Girlyman. Their version of the song has amazing harmonies and different parts that just sounds so amazing. Pretty pleased with this song though, and kind of like it on the bazoukele.

I learned this song, as is the case with a large number of my songs, after hearing play it. It’s a great song by Christopher Stapleton called Starting Over. My low D string has been buzzing on Mealla which is very discouraging since she just got fixed, but I made it through.

This song is one of the newest songs I’ve learned. It’s a song about being extraordinary in an Ordinary Town. And is titled accordingly. It’s by Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer. Really good song.
