Celebrating Filipino-American Heritage Month:This October, we proudly continue to celebrate and honor ๐
๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐จ-๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก by recognizing the rich cultural traditions that have shaped the Filipino experience.
Last week, during our All Staff call, we had the honor of hearing from our colleague, Davis, who shared her deeply personal connection to ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ , the national dance of the Philippines.
Lea spoke passionately about how the traditional folk music accompanying ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ was the same music her family grew up listening to, making this cultural expression even more meaningful. The vibrant and graceful ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ , performed with bamboo poles, has been a symbol of ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฒ, ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐๐, and ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ for over a century, standing as a testament to the strength of Filipino identity.
More than just a dance, ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ embodies the spirit of ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐, ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐, and ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ that the ๐

October is Filipino American History Month, and this yearโs theme shines a light on the powerful legacy of struggle, resistance, solidarity, and resilience within the Filipino American community.
Throughout history, Filipino Americans have faced systemic oppression, from discriminatory laws to racial violence, but they have persevered with unwavering strength. This theme also emphasizes the community's ability to unite in the fight for justiceโboth within their own circles and in solidarity with other marginalized groups.
At Fred Finch, we stand in solidarity with the Filipino community in this mission. We honor their resilience and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Filipino Americans as we continue our work to foster justice and inclusion for all.
Join us in reflecting on this important history and celebrating the collective strength, love, and joy of the Filipino American community.
