PeakRx PT & Wellness
PeakRx PT & wellness aims to bridge the gap between orthopedic, pelvic health and performance.
Join us Thursday, June 27th at 7pm for our Adore Your Pelvic Floor night out! Bring a friend and come have some fun!
Apart of our BirthRx program is helping moms getting back to running after baby.
Running is free, easy and your baby can come with so lots of moms divert to running early on to help get back into fitness. While we love running, we know that the sport itself is very repetitive and takes a lot of pelvic floor mobility, strength, lower leg strength, balance etc!
Many times women come in our doors reporting things like leakage, chronic pain in the hips, knees or ankles or heaviness when they run. We believe running can be so great, but it is something to work towards and to earn after baby .
Thankful we have lots of data to help a mom know when it is time to hit the pavement again.
Here is a quick snap shot of things we test when we take a mom through our return to run screen. Do you have an adominal well ready to transfer load? do you have single leg strength in glutes, adductors and hip flexors? What is the scar mobility and pelvic floor control? SO many more things to consider!
Our BirthRx program offers programming to moms to use during pregnancy as well as post partum to help them work on all the things needed for when it is time to run again.
We loved watching our girl kill it becoming a new mom AND getting back to kicking ass at crossfit!
Celebrating one whole year of Sheri being on the peakrx team!
Sheri is the warm and welcome face you see when you come in. She is efficient, hard working and her day is made when she can snuggle your sweet baby.
Thank you for all your hard work! We love you!
Not all pelvic floors are the same, therefore not all treatment can be the same. At PeakRx we have many categories or buckets that we use to describe and treat pelvic floor dysfunction; two that we see a lot are Over-active and Under-active pelvic floors. So what is the difference? While symptoms of leaking and heaviness are present for both, the cause of those symptoms are completely opposite! An overactive PF basically holds too much tension and has a hard time relaxing while an under-active PF is too weak to hold enough tension needed to function properly.
As you can see, treatment for 2 different people with similar symptoms could be completely different. This is why googling symptoms, self diagnosis and getting advice from Dr. Google is rarely (if ever) productive for people with PF dysfunction. This is where we come in :), Pelvic Floor Physical therapists, who can get to the bottom of what’s causing your symptoms and get you on a productive path to reach your goals!
Did you know a part of being a pelvic health specialist is helping people p**p their best?!
Want to ease constipation, prevent hemorrhoids and improve/prevent pelvic floor issues? Start with your potty life and follow these tips.
Potty Tips;
🚽Support your feet with a step-stool (an overturned trash can or sturdy container can work) so your knees are slightly above your hips.
🚽You may rest your elbows on your knees to help you relax.
🚽Take slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
🚽Imagine relaxing your pelvic floor open as you inhale.
🚽Avoid straining.
🚽If you need help initiating a bowel movement, you can also try blowing as if you were gently blowing into a balloon.
whether its pain, pressure, heaviness or leakage - if the FIRST thing a doctor suggests is removing a body part, please walk away.
Rarely, the uterus itself is the cause of the problem. So many poeple undergo hysterectomies to fix a problem but are left with no change at all. Identifying the true root cause should happen first. This means all other tissue should be ruled out and OBGYNs and Urogyns are not specialist in tissues like muscles and nerves. See a Pelvic Floor Specialist (someone who is an expert in musculoskeletal issues) can help you truly identify the root cause - and most of the time getting a plan together to help you overcome your problem without a major surgery.
While surgeries can be needed and so very helpful in certain situations, we must remember that no matter what procedure we are getting done there is a cost. Removing an organ may accomplish some things but we are trading it for something else. Understanding the procedure itself and what we need to do to rehab well from the negatives that come from surgery can make all the difference in the world!
We are huge fans of rehab first - identifying the root and addressing your tissue first. Majority of the time, big surgeries can be completly avoided. If surgery is still in your future, you can rest assured you got strong, learned more about your body and how to best specifically rehab which will allow a procedure to go much smoother - so either way. you cant go wrong!
We have nothing against basic PTs. We were all basic early on in our careers. We all eventually found out that having schedules loaded with 20+ patients each day and moving them through like cattle was both poor treatment for them and made our lives miserable. So we each made a choice to say NO to being basic. Are you ready?
Here at PeakRx we are changing the game in healthcare for both the clients that see us and for our employees.
We believe that PTs shouldn't see 20+ patients a week to avoid burn out, to allow for creativity within sessions and to truly have the brain space to meet clients where they are at.
We believe in getting people better on a schedule that is best for them. That means we do not take insurance where care is dictated by what their coverage allows.
We believe that PTs wanting to treat pelvic floor issues should be orthopedically sound first. We challenge each other each and every day to be the best at helping people squash pain and symptoms with a whole body approach.
WE believe that to truly help people stay out of pain, we must be comfortable taking them past rehab and into performance. We want each PT here to be comfortable with wellness and helping clients reach past their initial goals and encourage them to be the best person they can be. Strong, resilient and confident.
If you are tired of clamshells, glute bridges and a never ending stack of notes to accomplish each night when you get home. Give us a call.
Do you have back pain, feel like you cant get any stronger or even experiencing leaking when you overhead press? It may be your core to blame.
When we think about solid core stability it has a lot do with putting our body in a really efficient position and the 2 places to check into are your pelvic and rib cage. We want those 2 structured “stacked” like 2 bowl stacked on top of one another. This sets up our transverse abdominus and pelvic floor to be working at their best, supporting you in your movement so that you can move with less pain, and get that heavy weight overhead.
Osteoporosis is commonly known as a silent disease - it happens under the surface and often times can be very progressed before we even find out.
Bones are always breaking down and building back up. We see over a 10 year period, your bones will be completely new due to this process. In a womens 30s, the scales tip where the amount of bone loss slightly outweights bone regrowth - which then starts the process of bone loss. Its small and almost negligible at the beginning, but those years add up.
We must start looking at all the factors that go into building strong bones to help keep us independent and fracture free!
Calcium, vitamin D, proper protien intake are vital in regards to what we ingest. Weekly weight bearing and resistance based exercise allows outside forces to help the bone regrowth process.
Hormone replacement therapy is another piece of the puzzle for some as well to make sure we have the correct estrogen and testosterone that is needed to build bones!
pelvic floor dysfunction can be a real bummer in the bedroom for men. Having a strong, healthy pelvic floor means strong, healthy erections!
no matter what your issue is - if you were told to "give it more time" or "lets check back in in 3 months" lets find you some better help.
In the pelvic floor realm, lots of times we hear people were told they must just wait more and more time to get over things like heaviness, pain with in*******se and leakage. We see that the longer people deal with issues, the harder it is to tackle in the future.
Physical Therapy should absolutely be first line of defense for people when they have complaints with their body. Its cheap, its easy and its EXTREMELY effective. PT allows people to get a plan around their issues, it gives them an outlet and a professional to chat with about their fears/complaints as opposed to just "waiting". It allows them to work through things like weakness, mobility restraints, tension and coordination that all can help alleviate symptoms.
Just waiting is a lazy answer. Just waiting is not research. based. Just waiting can cause more issues.
May is osteoporosis awareness month!
In our world right now, women’s b***s are way more important and focused on than our bones and we have a bone to pick with this...
Most women are far more likely to receive their mammogram for cancer screening than their osteoporosis screening! But lets talk about some bone stats:
2/3 of women over the age of 50 have low bone mass or osteoporosis.
More women will be admitted to hospitals due to hip fractures than those who suffer heart attacks and strokes.
If a women fractures her hip and is >65 years old she has a 50% chance of not being able to live independently 1 year later, a 40% chance of not being able to walk independently and a 30% chance of not being able to get into and out of the bath.
Don’t get us wrong. We love b***s and we want you to get those things looked at and taken care of - but lets change the conversation and the care available to women in regards to our bones! There is lots to do in regards to preventative care and treatment!
Lets make B***s = Bones!

at peakrx, we are in the business of busting through stigma that exists around pelvic floor dysfunction - and this stat right here is why.
things like urinary and f***l incontinence can be a big bummer - causing embarrassment and shame.
avoiding life giving activities like exercise or running around with kids or grandkids leaves people feeling like they are on the sidelines of their own lives.
big changes in s*xual function can leave relationships strained or people feeling like they will never get better.
stomping out leakage, heaviness and pain can effect someones life so much deeper than we would ever dream - giving them confidence and a mental shift!
We hear time and time again how our ADORE YOUR PELIVC FLOOR workshop is so fun, educational and valuable! We are going on the road and joining our good friends at to provide this months workshop.
