Subject: Safety Recall Notice – Covert X DOT
NHTSA Campaign Number: 24E-054
Dear Valued Dealers,
This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Two of four Covert X motorcycle helmets tested during a random sample test by NHTSA at a contracted test
lab for motorcycle helmets were found non-compliant with the retention system requirement set forth in
FMVSS No. 218.
After receiving information from NHTSA via its letter dated May 10, 2024, Kido Sports Co., Ltd. (hereinafter
“Kido Sports”), the manufacturer of Covert X motorcycle helmets, immediately implemented an action plan
and conducted an internal investigation into the potential non-compliance with FMVSS No. 218 pertaining to
all sizes of the ScorpionEXO Covert X helmets.
Based on its investigation, Kido Sports determined that the retention system for the below mentioned
helmets and periods may be noncompliant with FMVSS No. 218.

Produced between September 2021 through January 2024
Size: All sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL)
Number potentially involved: 20,237
As a consequence, Kido Sports decided to implement a VOLUNTARY RECALL of all
sizes of the Covert X helmets produced during the aforementioned time period
(hereinafter “the subject helmet”). The helmet name can be found on the DOT
certification label on the back of the helmet as shown in the photograph to the
right.
For your reference, the production date is identified in the QC sticker that can be
found on the inner wall of the EPS liner after peeling off the crown liner as shown in
the photograph to the right.

WHAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL DO:
We, Kido Sports, will collect all the distributor and dealer inventories of the subject helmet and rework to
reinforce the chinstrap to provide added security. The reinforced helmets will be randomly selected from
each batch and tested to ensure compliance with FMVSS No. 218. The helmets will then be returned to the

distributors and dealers. All these processes will be carried out by Kido Sports, and all associated costs will
be borne by Kido Sports.
