Direct injection engines are problematic with carbon deposits. Due to the fact that the injectors do not wash over the valves, additives purchased from the parts store or fuel stations, or fuel injection services at the dealer do nothing to prevent or correct this engineering failure.
Carbon deposits can only be cleaned by hand or using an expensive media blaster.

Direct injection engines need to have valves cleaned periodically.
We recommend performing this service every 60000 miles.
