The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the incident.

While en route, the driver was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.

INVESTGATIVE REPORT RELEASE: A 49-year-old farm services employee was killed when the light-duty pickup truck he was driving was struck by another vehicle. The driver was following his co-worker, who was driving a much larger truck. The larger truck became inoperable and had to stop in the right lane of the highway. The pickup truck was positioned behind the larger truck when it was struck from the rear.

INVESTGATIVE REPORT RELEASE: Two roofers were using a telescoping boom lift to descend from a roof when they contacted overhead electrical lines. The head of the lift operator, a 27-year-old roofing worker, contacted one of the electrical lines and was fatally electrocuted. The other roofer in the lift, a 21-year-old male, suffered 2nd degree electrical burns to his left elbow, wrist, and hand.

To recognize International Overdose Awareness Day, KOSHS along with the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center is highlighting resources on preventing workplace drug overdoses and supporting substance use disorder recovery.
KIPRC offers workplace overdose prevention resources To recognize International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31, the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) is highlighting resources on preventing workplace drug overdoses and supporting substance use disorder (SUD) recovery.
Nationwide, 70% of all adults with an alcohol or illicit drug use disorder (about 13.6 million people) are employed. To address the significant number of workers in recovery from substance use disorder the KOSHS program at Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center has developed a toolkit to assist small businesses in hiring and retaining this significant segment of the population.

INVESTGATIVE REPORT RELEASE: a 36-year-old Hispanic roofer suffered a fatal fall while installing roofing on a two-story apartment building. The worker fell approximately 18 feet to a sidewalk below and died on the scene due to injuries suffered from the fall.

In response to a spike in construction deaths due to falls through skylights in Kentucky, KOSHS has developed a new toolkit to prevent these types of falls. The materials in this toolkit can be used to educate employers and employees about the hazards of working near skylights and fall prevention measures that should be taken. Wondering how to conduct a Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction? Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by taking a break to have a toolbox talk or another safety activity such as conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans, or discussing job specific hazards. Managers are encouraged to plan a stand-down that works best for their workplace anytime.
Today's the first day of Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction week! Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Anyone who wants to prevent hazards in the workplace can participate in the Stand-Down.
Next week is National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls week. Safety Stand-Down is an annual event to bring attention to fall hazards in the construction industry. The Safety Stand-Down is an opportunity for employers and employees to pause the worksite and discuss fall hazards, prevention measures, and safety policies.
