Hi all!

Trying to tap into our network to help one of our clients stay in his own home. With all the housing insecurity right now, this may be mutually beneficial for the client and someone needing a place to live.

There is a service under the SCL waiver that he’s able to use called 'shared living'. The deal is it would need to be a single person needing a place to live- the exchange is getting free room/board in the home for an exchange of a support to the client. This client specifically needs someone to be present in the home from 12a-8a, 7 days a week (pre-scheduled vacations can be accommodated). That is the obligation of the agreement. The person would not be responsible for any actual care of the client. The client needs someone on the premise during those sleeping hours in the event of an emergency. The client is unable to call for emergency service in the event of a fire, natural disaster, or medical emergency. There is a hiring/vetting process- background checks, drug screening that have to be passed. But, the basics are you get free housing and your return obligation is 12a-8a presence in the home, 7 days a week. You are not expected to be awake- it is fine to be asleep. No parties, overnight visitors unless pre-approved by the homeowner, no pets or significant other or kids able to live there.
