Good Monday morning!
Areas of rain and a few t-storms are moving into the area from Kentucky this morning, and we can expect more showers and t-storms this afternoon & evening. Some could contain quite heavy rain, so be on the lookout for isolated water issues and remember - Turn Around, Don't Drown!
Hot and humid today with some seeing rain and others not. High pressure to our north will try to sink down into our area, meanwhile a disturbance to our south will creep up into our area, stalling overhead later today into tonight.
Looking active through the week.
Localized heavy rain showers and thunderstorms provide mainly beneficial rain (some very localized water issues possible in any more persistent downpours) through this evening, primarily across the south. Showers are expected to dissipate heading into the overnight with clearing skies. Some patchy fog will be possible in the valleys heading into Sunday morning.
Showers are starting to manifest across portions of our area this morning with a slow moving warm front just to our south. Some heavier downpours are possible through out the day, mostly confined to the mountains. While flooding is not a huge concern with how dry it has been, it is still important to remain weather aware.

AMBER ALERT: An Amber Alert has been issued for a 1998 Green Buick LeSabre with KY tag K2R477. Call 800-222-5555 with any information.
Dry weather conditions are anticipated tonight. Next chance for precipitation will arrive overnight tonight into early Saturday, as an upper level disturbance lifts north along the eastern mountains. Shower and storm chances return later on Saturday with additional southern stream shortwaves crossing our area, with chances more likely across the mountains. Looking active next week with likelihood for showers or storms each afternoon as a series of shortwaves move up from the south.
Mostly dry today before becoming more unsettled tomorrow as a slow-moving disturbance to our south approaches. Chances are higher across the mountains and our eastern most coverage area; lesser for SE Ohio. Looking unsettled next week.
Showers and thunderstorms will be more likely in the mountains this weekend, with lower chances further west. Saturday will have the highest precipitation chances. Expect cool temperatures early in the morning with warm afternoon temperatures.

Thanks to our FD partners for a good job on this incident and McGuires Towing and Recovery for vehicle recovery and roadway cleanup. Shout out to Boyd County Sheriffs Office for staying on scene with EM staff all night for traffic control.
Drier weather returns to the lowlands, while a few showers or storms could linger along the mountains today. A front to the south then provides a focus for isolated showers and storms this weekend into early next week.
Cooler temperatures behind a cold front will allow for temperatures on Thursday to be more seasonable. While northeast Kentucky, Ohio, and northwest West Virginia will be dry, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the mountains, more likely in Virginia.

The marginal risk for severe storms has been expanded across the area from the previous outlook. Isolated storms with damaging winds are possible today.
Showers/storms expected ahead of and along a cold front today. Isolated storms could become strong and produce damaging winds and locally heavy rain. Drier conditions take hold behind the front for the conclusion of the work week.
❄️COOLDOWN ALERT❄️
Okay, maybe the snowflakes are a bit overkill, but there will be a marked cooldown later this week, compared to what we've had since the Fourth of July holiday.
We'll have to make it through one more warm and humid day on Wednesday, with numerous showers and thunderstorms expected around the area. A cold front finally pushes through Wednesday night, with showers clearing from all but the mountains by Thursday morning.
One more hot day is ahead, with a few locations along and south of I-64 potentially approaching triple digit heat indices.
This afternoon and evening, isolated to scattered storms could become severe and capable of producing damaging winds. Heavy downpours are also possible.
It's still going to be quite hot tomorrow, and peak heat index values in lower elevations will be upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Continue to exercise good heat safety practices!
The thunderstorm threat tomorrow looks to expand further south and east compared to today (which stayed largely in Ohio and northern WV), so please do be weather aware if you have outdoor work or recreation plans tomorrow. Some of the stronger storms could contain damaging winds or large hail.
Speaking of severe storms - if anyone has any wind damage or hail reports from this afternoon's storms in Perry and Morgan counties in Ohio, please pass them along!
