In partnership with 2nd Story and Project Ricochet's Urban Art Collective, the Lexington Art League is happy to announce that we are hosting two new resident artists through Bridge Work Lexington. Our new resident artists, Claire Thompson and Latonia Dishueme-Bangudi, are kicking off their residency with an exhibition titled "The Agony and the Ecstasy", at 2nd Story, opening on November 15, and will be part of a larger group exhibition in early 2025 with the other Bridge Work artist cohorts from Michigan and Wisconsin.
Bridge Work is a 9-month professional development program developed in 2014 by Jason Yi and Leah Kolb, that provides vital opportunities for emerging artists to implement disciplined work habits, present their work, develop audiences, and establish networks of support and mentorship. We are so happy to be partners in this project! To learn more about our new resident artists click the Bridge Work Residency link in the linktree in our bio or visit: http://www.lexingtonartleague.org/bridge-work.html

HOMECOMING — the solo exhibition of SOULED by the artist ATB — culminates with an un-ticketed opening event for WAVE 11: HOW TO REMEMBER THE STEPS on tonight (09/27/2024) from 7 to 11 PM.
Attendees will explore the evolution of SOULED through multiple galleries and have an exclusive opportunity to purchase the first WORKS in WAVE 11 before it opens to the public. The first WORK in WAVE 11 is valued at $11, and the 12th at $22,528.
The event will feature a cash/card/mobile payment bar and music, including a live DJ set spanning five decades of homecoming hits. Dress code is open, but nostalgic attire is encouraged.
Due to the inclement weather the galleries at the Loudoun house will not be open today. Make sure to join us tomorrow for our rescheduled 4th Friday event!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: SOULED HOMECOMING POSTPONED 24 HOURS
Due to a high wind advisory, the SOULED HOMECOMING opening event for WAVE 11 has been postponed by 24 hours. The event will now take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 7 PM to 11 PM at the Loudoun House.
Please note that the opening for WAVE 11: HOW TO REMEMBER THE STEPS has also been rescheduled. It will no longer debut on Friday but will open one day later during the event on Saturday.
Everything else remains the same—expect artist proofs, the AION Time Machine, a disco inferno, and your chance to participate in the beginning of WAVE 11. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday night!
Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe out there.
The opening event for WAVE 11: HOW TO REMEMBER THE STEPS takes place at the Lexington Art League's September 4th Friday event on Friday, September 27, from 7 to 11 PM. During which, attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase the first WORKS from WAVE 11 before they are made available to the public.
HOW TO REMEMBER THE STEPS continues ATB's use of context as a medium in his lifelong, time-based work of art: SOULED. Each WAVE is designed to create a unique experience that challenges viewers' perceptions of art, its meaning, and its value. In WAVE 11, ATB uses memory as a contextual frame, inviting the audience to reconsider how they recall and reinterpret their past experiences.
As with previous WAVES, WAVE 11 follows a structured sales format: 12 identical WORKS are released sequentially, with the price doubling after each sale. The first WORK is valued at $11, and the 12th and final WORK at $22,528.
PRHBTN 13 is just around the corner!!! Join us on October 11th from 6-10pm for the opening reception, and the biggest party of the year. Cash bar, music, and the most eclectic art show around, it is not. to. be. MISSED! Are you a Lexington Art League member? Then make sure to snag your tickets to the PRHBTN Preview Night on October 10th from 5-8pm! Message us to find out how to get your tickets.
