Maxson Firm, PLLC
Maxson Firm, PLLC offers help to individuals and businesses for unemployment cases statewide
Three years ago today, I sat-down with CNN for over two hours to discuss the performance of Unemoyment Insurance systems durring the Pandemic.
Another 5-star review. We have perfect ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ reviews from actual clients.
I had thought this was prohibited by federal law. It will be interesting to see if this creates a compliance certification problem for their program.
After having moved several times in our first few years, Maxson Firm has been in our current office for three years as of November 1 (yes, moving a business is as bad as moving homes)
Spectrum has been performing "upgrades" on our black all week, which results in the loss of phone and internet. We are again without both this afternoon, 10/20/23.

We are still without power as of Monday (03/06). KU's estimate is power will not be returned to our building until sometime Wednesday (03/08). We are without phones or internet until then. We will be closed today and tomorrow, and we will hopefully be able to reopen once services are restored on Wednesday. All meetings and hearings until then will be canceled. Any due dates for client cases before that time will be met or an extension will be filed as appropriate. We appreciate your patience.
Maxson Firm is five years old today. During that time, we've helped hundreds of clients--both claimants and employers--in cases involving millions in potential benefits and UI payroll taxes. Our results have significantly outperformed the baseline. Thanks to you for trusting Maxson Firm with your UI legal needs.
The last three weeks have been back-to-back hearings as we prepare for holiday break. We just finished our last hearing of 2022. Maxson Firm will turn five on December 31st, so we'll be a whole year older when hearings resume in January. Happy holidays until then!
As reported by the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, Kentucky has now recovered not only all the jobs lost durring Covid, but caught up to what the projected job growth by now would been without it
This bill solves no problems while creating many new ones.
A year ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down with CNN to talk about Unemployment Insurance
I have a lot of clients that can relate to this. Despite the law requiring claims be paid "promptly," we frequently put in the work to win a case only to hear nothing and get no payments for months. The agency's a brick wall and and there's no transparency for what's happening on the other side. Meanwhile people have trouble paying their bills while waiting on the agency to (hopefully) issue the payments they are due.
Kentucky woman unable to pay for son's college tuition due to unpaid unemployment benefits April Ratchford, an occupational therapist, said her payments stopped in March and the state owes her more than $20,000.
psst ... our clients really like us

As we were saying ...
Central Ky. job placement service hasn’t seen a large increase in applicants in recent weeks Many people thought extra unemployment money was keeping people at home, but that funding has stopped and businesses aren’t seeing much of a difference.
Pandemic Unemployment Assistance ended a month ago yet our labor market problems have not been fixed. People who suggested PUA was the issue, were being disingenuous (there was data prior to September 5, showing PUA was not a serious contributing factor to labor market turbulence). Ending PUA became a political cudgel to land blows against anyone that wasn't in favor of ending it prematurely, even though it was known PUA wasn't really part of the problem. So, we let Pandemic Assistance lapse at the height of the pandemic. Doing so did nothing to help the labor market, all it did was take money out of circulation, hurt people, and make it harder for landlords, creditors, and other businesses to get paid. We shot ourselves in the foot.
Chain businesses in Kentucky struggling to find employees In the Commonwealth, and nationwide, businesses are struggling to find employees. This hiring crisis is affecting chains. One local organization is doing what it can to help.
How the end of federal unemployment benefits has effected hiring in Ky. Hiring remains a challenge for many businesses.
I have always said the law probably already allows for this, but something more specific would be welcomed and long overdue
Bill Would Allow Domestic-Violence Survivors to Claim Unemployment Kentucky lawmakers and state advocates want to expand the state's unemployment system to include survivors of domestic violence.
