He catapulted to prominence with First Prize wins at both the Leeds and Hamamatsu International Piano Competitions, and is now a familiar face on five continents, not only as a recitalist and chamber musician, but also as a concerto soloist. Alessio has appeared with more than 150 orchestras. We are so lucky and grateful to have had Alessio as part of our core troupe since 2007. CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL OF LEXINGTON THE CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL OF LEXINGTON IS A 10-DAY MUSIC FESTIVAL IN THE HEART OF THE BLUEGRASS.
In 2007, Nathan Cole, native of Lexington and a Tates Creek grad, was a young violinist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. That year he co-founded the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington, and assembled a quintet that included his wife Akiko Tarumoto and three additional friends from his days at the Curtis Institute. That core quintet has returned to play for our Festival ever year since. Fast forward to 2024, and Nathan has been appointed as concertmaster of the Boston Symphony, one of the premier orchestras in the US and indeed in the world. That team today plays with the LA Phil, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and solo engagements around the world. We get to see these old friends practice their world class artistry in the intimacy of the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center at our Main Stage Concerts. Go here and reserve your place at these special concerts! https://chambermusiclex.org/2024-festival

Our festival is honored to present cellist Kenneth Olsen as this year's Artist-in-Residence. He joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal cello in 2005. He is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and a winner of the school’s prestigious concerto competition. His other awards include first prize in the Nakamichi Cello Competition at the Aspen Music Festival and second prize in the 2002 Holland-America Music Society Competition.
His teachers have included Richard Aaron at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Joel Krosnick at the Juilliard School of Music, and Luis Garcia-Renart at Bard College. He also has been a participant at the Steans Institute for Young Artists (the Ravinia Festival’s professional studies program for young musicians) and at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. His devotion to chamber music is impressive -he is a founding member of the East Coast Chamber Orchestra, He also is a member of the Chicago-based Civitas Ensemble, which has a threefold mission: to present engaging live performances of new and traditional works, to inspire a young generation of classical musicians, and to bring the healing power of music to those with limited access to live performances. For those who love the cello, this is your year! Between Kenneth and Pricilla Lee, we are in for a cello treat! We will hear them both play Schubert, Arensky and Gabriella Smith together at our Main Stage concerts. Get your tickets today at www.chambermusiclex.org/2023-festival
