LexArts is a catalyst for creating a progressive and innovative community inspired by the arts.
LexArts is Lexington’s premier cultural development, advocacy and fundraising organization working for the development of a strong and vibrant arts community as a means of enhancing the quality of life in central Kentucky.
We are excited to partner with YMCA of Central Kentucky Black Achievers to help lead the Art, Media and Entertainment Cluster for their 2024-25 program. Our very own Kay'mon Murrah has organized a detailed overview course dedicated to Careers in the Arts and plans to bring in many Lexington arts organizations to give their own perspectives.

Grade Recommended: 9th- 12th
Course Description:
This course explores the diverse and dynamic world of careers in the arts. Students will gain insight into various artistic professions, including visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, and digital media while highlighting key African American figures in these industries. Through guest lectures, hands-on projects, and industry research, students will learn about the skills, education, and career paths available in fields such as:
Visual Arts: Painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and illustration.
Performing Arts: Acting, dance, music, and theater production.
Literary Arts: Writing, editing, publishing, and literary criticism.
Digital Media: Animation, game design, film production, and multimedia art.

Antagonist Productions and The Voices Inside present I Come From, a series of short plays from The Voices Inside. This will be the fourth installment from the I Come From series, with seven brand-new plays written by incarcerated playwrights.
Join us this Thursday at Central Bank Thursday Night Live . . . where we publicly launch bringing playful foal sculptures to life across downtown Lexington, strategically placed in over 20 locations from Thoroughbred Park to Triangle Park.
The installation features five different poses handcrafted by renowned equine artists: Kiptoo Tarus, Steve Johnson, Michele Hunter, and Jocelyn Russell.

We're excited to welcome The String Roots Trio, a talented band that will make you tap your feet and clap your hands. They play traditional and contemporary bluegrass tunes, with some original songs mixed in.
You won't go hungry at the Jamboree, because we have some delicious food options. Frenchy’s Pizza, the second-place Lexington Pizza Week contest winner this year, will be serving their mouthwatering pies and calzones. You can also treat yourself to some sweet desserts from Bellas Ice cream. Don't forget to quench your thirst with some refreshing cider from Wise Bird Cider, a craft cidery that uses local apples and natural ingredients.
The Jamboree is a family-friendly event, so bring your kids, friends, and neighbors. There's plenty of space to dance, play, and socialize.
The music starts at 7 p.m., but you can come early to get a good spot. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
We hope to see you this Thursday at the Southland Jamboree, the best place to enjoy bluegrass music in Lexington!

Bluegrass Indo-American Civic Society will once again showcase Indian culture, cuisine, and art at this free event, open to all. Enjoy great food, live performances, rangoli & henna art, cooking demonstrations, games, and more.
Our annual India Day will cater to around 300-400 community people. We will have Taekwondo, Zumba, and Yoga demonstrations, classical Indian dances, semi-classical Indian dances, fusion music and dances, diverse dances like Chinese, K Pop dances, and others, classical and semi-classical singing performances. We will try to arrange a lot of vendors like Indian food, Mexican food, ice cream trucks, beverage drinks trucks, etc. There will be Indian street games like Kabbadi, cricket, etc.
