Well, I think I just posted our introduction on Youtube.
Well I've "officially" started our 800-Day Roadmap to Full-Functioning Homestead Living at Hardearned Acres. I figured once we get to the property things will really start to go quick. We're about three months out from leaving Virginia. We start our house build soon.
For the past three years I've been getting things together for this final stretch of military service. I always had plans to stick around forever in the military....but I've had friends that stuck around until they were forced out die within a few years of retirement. I decided it was time to go.
Embarking on the journey to transform our property into a fully functioning homestead is going to be a rewarding endeavor that has required careful planning and dedication.
We've conducted comprehensive assessments of the property, identifying areas for gardening, livestock, and potential structures.
We're working a detailed plan outlining our goals for self-sufficiency, including food production, energy sources, and water management. We've met with the folks at NCRS to get grants for a number of projects we'd like to do.
This summer we hope to establishing gardens, orchards, livestock areas, install rainwater harvesting systems and explore renewable energy options such as solar panels to reduce dependence on external resources.
I don't know a lot but I'm Embracing the journey, learning from the land, my mistakes, and enjoy the fulfillment of a life deeply connected to the rhythms of nature.
