🏄‍♀️ For over a decade, the Kaua’i Chapter has been testing surf breaks, and their findings reveal a sobering truth: while our beloved surf breaks remain pristine, many streams carry alarmingly high levels of the f***l indicator bacteria, enterococcus.

🚫 One of the most concerning findings is Nāwiliwili Stream at Kalapakī Bay, failing water tests since 2016 and earning a spot on the Surfrider Foundation's national list of polluted priority beaches. The culprit of this pollution are the 14,000 cesspools on Kaua’i, releasing untreated sewage into our waters. Change is on the horizon, but it'll take significant investment.
