We’re excited to share Melissa Bartels, RN, MSN, CCRN has been named chief nursing officer of Bryan Medical Center and succeeds Lisa Vail, RN, DNP, NEA-BC, who remains chief nursing officer for the Bryan Health system.

Ryan King is a very positive person. You would never guess what he is going through.
More than two years ago, Ryan was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer that had spread to his brain. His doctors at the April Sampson Cancer Center have provided exceptional care throughout the ups and downs of his diagnosis. Those doctors’ efforts and Ryan’s positive attitude have kept the former triathlete moving.

"I have personally worked with Jillian for almost 3 years and she is the most compassionate person I have met. She is a mother of 8, going to nursing school and is a key member of our team on 6 south. She loves her patients like they are her own family members and advocates for them every chance she gets. On Jan. 5, 2024, AJ Freburg was completing one of her last courier runs at Complete Endocrinology. The company she had contracted with as courier for 30 years decided to close all Nebraska operations, and Jan. 5 was its last day of service.
AJ didn’t have much of a plan past this day, and she felt unsure of her future. But what she was sure of was missing “her people” at the various Bryan Physician Network (BPN) offices she had come to know through her work.
