Families are also preparing for the new year. Parents and caregivers will be working hand-in-hand with educators to nurture studentsโ curiosity, imagination, and a love of learning. Together, we can make sure students have the skills they need to be independent, become tomorrowโs inventors and innovators, and create a better future for all of us.
A great educator opens the door, a great public education opens the world for students.
Young minds are opening and so are cafeteria windows, bus doors, supply closets, and school offices. Teachers, specialists, administrators, paraprofessionals, and education support professionals work together to foster the safe and welcoming public schools that students deserve.
As educators open their classrooms and students open their lockers and textbooks, public education means the possibilities for our nationโs future are wide open.
Nebraska public school teachers are ready to ensure every student receives the opportunities, resources, and encouragement they need to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
Nebraska public school teachers are excited to open their classroom doors and welcome their students for a new school year. The start of a new school year is a moment to celebrate fresh starts and open possibilities for students and our communities!
"It should be noted that despite plentiful rhetoric about our schools this summer, there is not much in this bill that directly impacts the schools. I think that is telling. It is telling that the plan would permit political subdivisions to get an expanded cap of 6% to deal with understaffed first responders, yet that same idea is not extended to educators even though there are more than 1,200 vacant teaching positions reported across the state." - NSEA President-Elect Tim Royers on LB 1.
NSEA President-Elect Tim Royers today testified on two bills affecting taxpayers, children and public education. It is the first day of public hearings on proposals being considered by state lawmakers in this Legislative Special Session seeking to reduce the reliance on property taxes to fund essential public services.
