Pickleball Omaha Healthcare Partners, Makovicka Physical Therapy, and MD West ONE held their first lecture Happy Hour event for PBO members. The speakers were Jedd Lehman, PT, DPT, a board-certified clinical orthopaedic specialist, and Dr. Justin Makovicka, orthopedic surgeon, and comprehensive knee and shoulder specialist. The relaxed, informative evening received great reviews from participants. Another event will be scheduled this fall.

Makovicka Physical Therapy clinics are closed to allow staff to celebrate our nation's independence with friends and family. We will reopen on Friday, July 5th at 7 a.m.

Congratulations to Shane Cole, PT, DPT for passing the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities (ABPTS) Orthopaedic Certification exam! Shane is the clinic director at Makovicka Physical Therapy's Plattsmouth clinic.

The OCS certification provides formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in a specialized area of practice. Applicants must have completed 2,000 hours of direct orthopedic patient care as a licensed physical therapist. It is a long and rigorous process! Kudos to Shane for putting in the work to achieve this goal!

Let's take a trip down memory lane, back to 2018 when Makovicka Physical Therapy proudly won the 2018 Better Business Bureau Integrity Award in Lincoln, and in Omaha.

The Integrity Award is the most prestigious award the Better Business Bureau (BBB) can present to a business or charity. The winners are chosen by independent panels of judges representing both the business and academic communities. Separate and independent judges review the award applications for each community.

Tori Castle ran the Revel Rockies Marathon on Saturday and qualified for the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:25:53! Tori works at Makovicka PT's Plattsmouth clinic and helps out at other Makovicka clinic locations through the summers and breaks. She will start PT school at Creighton University this fall. Great job, Tori!

Our Waverly staff recently had a visit from former patient, Avery, who proudly shared her Class B Girl's Pole Vault medal with the team. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to earn the title of state champion! Our team knows how focused and determined Avery was and they are proud to be 'the team' behind the athletes at Waverly HS. We are proud of you, Avery!

Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in1971. Typical celebrations include parades, dedications, and the placing of flowers and decorations on the grave sites of the fallen soldiers in every war. Remember and honor.

For the past two years, special staff t-shirts have been designed and available for purchase. The proceeds benefit an organization that serves our active-duty military, their families, or veterans.
This year, the Makovicka Cares! program is supporting Wreaths Across America by purchasing 54 wreaths. A number of staff will volunteer to lay wreaths at the Omaha National Cemetary or Wyuka in Lincoln on December 14th.
