Six Lincoln athletes received the 2022 Lincoln Track Club Scholarship to compete at the collegiate level. $2,500 scholarships were awarded to local high school cross country and track and field athletes. Recipients this year were, from left: Kinsley Ragland, Grant Wasserman, Carson Lauterbach, Katherine Tvrdy, and Lauren Blehm. Also receiving a scholarship, but not pictured, is Landon Heller.

The 45th Annual and Half Marathon will be taking place on Sunday, May 1, starting at 6:55 am and concluding at about 1:30 pm. This longstanding Lincoln tradition we are proud to support will affect traffic with several road closures.

• The arterial S. 48th St. from Hwy 2 to Calvert will be closed to both northbound and southbound traffic between approximately 7 am and 9:30 am.
• There will be no eastbound traffic on Normal Blvd. between S. 56th St. and Holmes North Shore Road from approximately 8 am to Noon.

In addition to the above road closures, please anticipate delays throughout Lincoln on race day.

Athlete parking and drop-off is recommended in downtown Lincoln south of the start line (14th and Vine) and south of UNL’s City Campus. Parking is available in City of Lincoln Parking Garages (first hour free) and at parking meters (free on Sundays). There are limited parking lots available on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus. Runners and spectators will not be allowed to park in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage or the Champions Club lot.
Public safety resources will be out in force on race day to provide for a safe race experience for athletes, spectators and volunteers. As always, we ask for your help. If you see something, say something. And have a great race!

Lincoln Track Club (LTC) annually recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the Lincoln running scene.

Noah Rasmussen of Lincoln received Lincoln Track Club’s Distinguished Achievement Award for his outstanding 2021 race season.

Rasmussen, over the last four years, has become one of the region’s top distance runners, culminating in a 2021 race season that was one for the record books. Noah came off the 2020 covid break ready to run. He posted a 4:00 time trial mile. He had a 14:20/4:20 double, with a 5K in Ames, Iowa, followed just 12 hours later with the Lincoln Mile. In September he posted a 24:44 five-mile race during the iconic Buffalo Run at Lincoln’s Pioneers Park, breaking into the race’s tough-to-crack Top 10 All Time record books.

The secret to improvement in running is consistency and setting challenging goals, and Noah Rasmussen has set the example for runners in Lincoln. Join us in celebrating Noah’s achievements!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Did you know it takes well over 1,000 people to help make the Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon “run”? The 2022 event is set for May 1, and the LTC is seeking volunteers to help with all aspects of the race. Options to help begin as early as Thursday, April 28, leading up to the race and go all the way through to its finish, sometime after noon on May 1.

You don’t have to be a runner to volunteer. LTC just needs people who want to help their community and who enjoy assisting others with achieving their goals. Share with your friends, family or other community members who might be able to lend us a helping hand!
