Southeast Community College saw a significant fall enrollment increase, exceeding 10,000 students for the first time in over a decade. This milestone marks resounding growth from the previous fall semester, demonstrating SCC's unwavering commitment to meeting the demands of the skilled workforce by providing transformative educational opportunities.

“This is always an exciting time at SCC as we help new and returning students pursue their educational journeys," said Dr. Paul Illich, SCC president. "This enrollment increase is consistent with our transformative initiative to produce a skilled workforce in order to strengthen our communities.”

Southeast Community College is experiencing tremendous transformation, creating educational destinations for every student in southeast Nebraska. The College will hold listening sessions throughout the 15-county region over the next month as it develops the Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.

“As we continue to educate the future workforce of our communities, we want to hear from our constituents as to how we can better serve them. Building upon the success of the College’s last two strategic plans, it is important that we get feedback from community members to ensure we develop, train and empower our students to meet their needs.”

A Day in the Life of a Recruiter

The best way to showcase everything SCC can offer is for prospective students to visit one of our campuses and experience it for themselves. Visits include everything from individual and group tours to attending an event like Discovery or Career Days.

“It’s a process that involves meticulous planning, checklists and a lot of communication. Event days start early with a kick-off meeting for staff to ensure all details are in place and once guests start to arrive, it’s showtime! The Admissions team moves seamlessly in showcasing SCC through tours, presentations and one-on-one conversations. We want to make sure our events are efficient and effective, and all logistics from maps, parking, food, etc., are on time, accessible and easy for guests to navigate.”

When you step onto one of our campuses in Lincoln, Milford or Beatrice, or one of the Learning Centers, it is a completely different experience for the students than it was 10 years ago. It is a destination for our students now. That’s why we are all here.”

Starting in July 2024, Doane University will lease classroom and office spaces to begin offering Doane’s Lincoln campus undergraduate programs at Southeast Community College’s campus.
