West Point veteran sets extraordinary volunteerism example: "I need to serve my community" Rick Wimer has served on the West Point Rescue Squad for 37 years. As a volunteer, he goes on more than 100 calls a year. And that's just for starters.

I was glad to celebrate our state’s commitment to volunteerism at ServeNebraska’s 2024 Step Forward Awards. A special congratulations to 97-year-old Mildred Moody as the National Service awardee for her 27 years serving Gering students as an AmeriCorps Seniors foster grandma.
