Thank you, Tom and Dean!
It's always a treat when "Pooch" Roper stops by. Today was even more special as we observed Tom and Pooch have a father and son moment while folding the U.S. flag in preparation for a veteran's funeral. ❤️

Tate Schutt, one of our Funeral Directors, is celebrating 8 years at Roper & Sons!
👨💻His work: "The team of dedicated and compassionate coworkers he looks forward to seeing every day and the excellent work they do for families and the community."
🤔Interesting fact: "People experience funerals differently. Some people have a very difficult time, while others see it as a celebration and a joyous occasion. Everyone experiences it differently and that's is what makes this job very interesting."
🦸Ideal superpower: "To have super speed so I can get as much done as possible as it always seems there are not enough hours in the day."
Congratulations, Tate, and thank you for the great work you do!
Kaitlyn, our receptionist, is celebrating her third anniversary with us!
Kaitlyn loves being able to learn something new every single day of her job.
• Favorite activity: To go "thrifting" with her boyfriend. She has good luck with her thrift finds🛍️
• Go-to caffeine summer drink: The coffee that she makes with caramel, vanilla, and salt-and-sugar (with some extra espresso)☕️
Thank you for the great work you do every day, Kaitlyn!
We see acts of kindness all around us every day. When someone consistently goes out of their way to help others, they become heroes in the eyes of those helped. That's what Here's To The Heroes is all about. Showing your gratitude to someone who has made a difference in your life.

Often, there is little time to sit down and process the death of a loved one, much less think about all of the things that need to be done. We understand how overwhelming this can feel. That's why we prepared a checklist to help families work through the necessary details.

Congratulations, Tony, for the great work you do and for your commitment to helping families when they need us most!
Logan Schneider, one of our Funeral Directors, joined our team in 2019. He chose to become a funeral director because he had always been intrigued by anatomy and physiology. Initially, he wanted to be a medical examiner, but that did not seem fulfilling enough to him. He wanted more involvement with the community, so being a funeral director seemed to be the perfect fit.
One of his memorable moments in mortuary school was on the day he was taking his embalming final. On the way to the funeral home he had a flat tire on the interstate, causing him to be 35 minutes late for the exam. Thankfully, his teachers were understanding and allowed him to take the final test which he passed!
As we celebrate our nation's Independence Day, we want to express our gratitude to the men and women who serve and protect our freedoms.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
"We lost our sister earlier this year and, unfortunately, she had not made any specific arrangements. We live out of town but Roper and Sons jumped to mind from having lived in Lincoln years ago.
They were amazing! They (especially Justin Wozny) basically took charge and helped us every step of the way including getting our loved one to central Nebraska for internment in spite of a blizzard. They not only helped guide us through the funeral arrangements but many other issues facing us in the months that followed. Nothing seemed too trivial to them when we asked for help." – Kay
Thank you, Kay, for trusting us with the care of your sister and allowing us to assist you and your family.
We had a lot of fun at the Firth Fun Day, and it gave us an opportunity to meet so many wonderful people from the community!
Congratulations to Leslie Howell, one of our Funeral Associates, who just graduated from mortuary science college and is also celebrating her six-year anniversary at Roper & Sons!
What she loves about her work: "Roper & Sons has kept records dating back to 1906. As someone who loves genealogy, those documents have not only helped me gather information for my own family tree, but they’ve also helped me assist other people who need help tracing their lineage."
Her favorite summertime caffeinated drink: "Either an Iced Vanilla Latte or a good ol’ Dr. Pepper. My coworkers are well trained and know Dr. Pepper puts me in a better mood!"
Favorite activity: "Hanging out with my Border Collie Corgi, Kerby, known in my neighborhood as “The Mayor” – he's pretty popular."
Tate Schutt is one of our funeral directors. He began working with us in 2016 while completing his college courses, and graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College Mortuary Science Program in 2018.
Reflecting back on his time in morturary school, Tate remembers having the opportunity to get to know other students who were interested in a career in mortuary science. He credits his time spent living and working at Roper & Sons early on and the guidance and knowledge shared by the funeral directors that helped him prepare for his career as a funeral director.

Happy five-year work anniversary to Rebecca, our Marketing and Outreach manager!
Rebecca really enjoys is working with an organization that has been in the Lincoln community for so many decades. "It’s an honor to help people during such a sensitive time, after the death of a loved one, but it’s even more enriching to hear the many stories of the families who have entrusted us with their loved ones for multiple generations. It’s humbling to be a small part of their stories."
At work, she would like to have the superpower to stop or slow time, but in reality, she thinks flight would be nice, too. Her favorite activity is spending time with her dog who she misses all day.
Rebecca, we appreciate all that you do for our familes and coworkers every day. Congratulations!

We appreciated hearing from Danilo following his father's funeral. His family was very satisfied with the professional and compassionate care that Roper and Sons provided throughout the funeral planning and arrangements, communication was prompt, professional, and compassionate, and the funeral arrangements proceeded smoothly.
Ensuring that families are taken care of through all aspects of the funeral process is our first priority, for every family.

This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Roper & Sons has had the privilege of helping families honor their loved ones who lost their lives serving in the U.S. military. We pay tribute to them, every day.
The Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard is a nonprofit organization that honors nurses at funerals. Since 2019, they have participated in over 500 services.
"It is a privilege to honor our nursing colleagues. It is extremely emotional, but I'm filled with gratitude as family members are so appreciative of the honor guard services," says Patsy Gleim, RN, MA, a Board member who serves as the State Community Liaison and Fundraising Director.
Learn more about the Nurse Honor Guard and how families can request this free service at their loved one's funeral in our blog, "Honoriing the Legacy of Nebraska Nurses," in the link in the comments.
